| SYPHON FILTER 3 | |||||
| Surprise! It sucks! People are going nuts over this game. But I think it's just okay... I am a huge fan of Syphon Filter games but you have to realize a few things about this newest arrival: 1. It's on the PSX. Why, why, why not the PS2? Why!? 2. The new character models are atrocious. I can't get over this. 3. It's kind of rehash. More of an expansion than a new game. 4. It's freaking difficult. Why can't I tone down the level of difficulty? 5. I think I've seen this already. 6. SF3 has the worst cover art in video game history. 7. Unresposive controls are not cool. 8. It's funner to analyze than play. Okay, let me ask you this: Why mess with perfection? Do you realize how great the last two games are? They're on my top 5 favorite PSX games of all time! But I can't shake the fact that there's something missing in SF3. What is it? I can't describe it. But this is not Syphon Filter 3. Why couldn't the developers have spent more time on polishing the gameplay? The buttons are really, really, really unresponsive. You press Circle to roll, five minutes later he rolls. The last games were very responsive. Also, the graphics seem to have gotten worse. The first game had the best graphics, and they have gotten progressively worse. Chrono Cross this is not. The developers went for a facelift this time around, but they did nothing but made it worse. Why does Gabe Logan look like Dan Aykrod? Why does he look like a fat constipated old man on the front cover? And I thought that the concept cover for the game looked dumb. This is really disgusting stuff, people. Why did this have to happen to us? Looking for a fun time? Well, getting an enema is funner, and a lot cheaper. Why pay $40 for a bad time? The game is too hard, too rehash, too crappy, etc. So the game came with minigames. Screw minigames! Does minigames make up for the otherwise crapfest that is Syphon Filter 3? I can't think of one reason why you should buy this game, unless of course it was given to you as a gift or something. The once-fun multiplayer in SF2 is not fun anymore because it is in SF3 as well, with a couple new levels added. The only good PSX game in 2001 is Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix. You should buy that instead. It's fun, SF3 is not. I hear that SF4 is coming to the PS2. Maybe that will be a good game, because this sure isn't. |
