Well, the RE series has gone a long way since it was first introduced to the PlayStation way back in 1996. That game sold a lot of copies, and many versions of it were released worldwide. Two years later, in 1998, the PlayStation 2 was thrilled even more when Resident Evil 2, which was twice as good as the first game, was released. Yes, it's my favorite Resident Evil game, and yes, it's probably your favorite of the series as well. It broke so much new ground on survival horror in terms of graphics, sounds, and story. Although I can't say the gameplay changed much, hunting zombies is still just as fun as it was in 1996. No, it was even funner. Resident Evil 2 is so much fun to play, I guarentee you will want to own it.
Those graphics, although they are painted, sure do bring out some excellent textures to the game. The character models look great, and surprisingly not blocky. Resident Evil 2 boasts some of the finest PSX graphics in the business, thanks to the high-resolution (at the time) graphics engine.
But if graphics aren't your only worry in a video game, the game also provides the player some awesome music throughout. RE2 has the potential in terms of music to hang out with those titles like Castlevania SotN and Metal Gear Solid. Also, the voice acting improved dramatically over the two years, one major complaint of the original game. With that said, why wouldn't you want to buy this?
Gameplay has remained the same in every game, but that's not to say it isn't fun. RE games have always been a blast to play (and replay) because of the fun factor. Solving puzzles, running away from big monsters such as the tyrant and escaping near-death given by hordes of zombies. Just talking about this game makes me wish I had a controller in my hand, playing it.
This is on the Top 10 of all time (on any system) on this website, and for good reason. Resident Evil 2 is not only one of the best games on the PlayStation console, but is one of the finest games ever made on ANY console. Buy it today! If you aren't a RE fan, you don't know what you're missing!
