While investigating Alan Stanwyk, Fletch paid a call to Boyd Aviation, to try to discover Stanwyk's comings and goings, by chatting with the engineering crew who worked on his private jet, which had a lovely wing. Having splurged on a set of novelty teeth, Fletch had created one of his more enjoyable personnas, who would later be used in Fletch Lives, under a new name of Billy Gene King. King was used in 'Fletch Lives' as Fletch himself was investigating the death of Amanda Ray Ross, his late aunt Belle's attorney.
Mr. Poon (Fletch)
'...I'm Frieda's boss'
After learning that Stanwyk had acquired three million dollars, supposedly to buy a ranch for him and his wife, Fletch decided that he would go to Mrs. Stanwyk's father at Boyd Aviation. Hence Mr. Poon was born. (Poon is a Commanche Indian name).
Working for the IRS, Poon quizzed Boyd about the money and discovered that Gail Stanwyk had cashed her own personal stock from the company, and gave the money to her husband.

After police chief Karlin issued an APB on Fletch,he had to get in touch with Gummy and Fat Sam on the beach.
Making sure no-one would recognize him, Baba au Rum was created.
Dressed in flowing robes and bald head, Baba is a Holistic Teamster on roller skates...

Fletch went to Stanwyk's Doctor, Dr. Dolan, to try and get a clue as to the real state of Stanwyk's health. But the good Dr. wasn't spilling any beans, and Fletch had to go elsewhere...

'...no-oo not since breakfast'
After learning nothing with Dr. Jellyfinger, Fletch had to go to the hospital to check Stanwyk's medical files. Using the two pseudonyms above, Fletch gained access to the records room, however on the way, he was 'borrowed' by a surgeon to help remove a spleen from an ex-patient. Fletch fainted.
Harry S. Trueman (Fletch)

Trueman, named after the ex-president, who was a good man, visited Stanwyk's parents in Utah. Discovering that he was already married to another woman before Gail Stanwyk, Fletch found more clues as to what Stanwyk was up to...
John Cocktolstone (Fletch)
'...I knew this is where my mouth would be'
Meeting with Gail Stanwyk at the Tennis club, John Cocktolstone is from Scotch Romanian parents. He is supposed to be one of Alan Stanwyk's flyboy buddies, and was meant to be at the Stanwyks' wedding.
Laker Fletch
Whilst in the land of nod, Fletch dreams he's a player for the LA Lakers Basketball team. He truly defines grace under pressure.
