"The Laughing Eyes"
By Ronald M. Rowe

Their gleam is the shame of pearls.
In my meditations they evoke trees
of gems, which nourish doves responding
with echoes of love.

These mysterious laughing eyes may peer
into my brain, which is a pavilion
in a citadel of silence where the lamp
of a song will rarely arise, whitening
our planet.

The laughing eyes are a vision
of God, blessing many a burning phoenix
who will arise from ashes like a torch
emerging from stygian gloom, joining drums
which announce battle and sacrifice.

The laughing eyes are clear windows
pampering the fabric of light,
(absorbing myriad rays, like thirsty
diamonds transacted for bread to feed
a colony of ghosts, whose eyes are
tiny jewels).

The amative laughing eyes heal
the wound of my grief, solving many enigmas
of karma whose knots would otherwise defy
the sword. She imbues my soul with purity
as of the light of a basket of peaches,
floating within the blue with bravery
as of a deer.

The eyes guide me unto a galaxy
where I collect carnations, finding in the oneiric
lights a metaphor for all the wheat on our
earth, (the reward for cherubic piano music
which travels to many a star).

The laughing eyes waft my soul
unto a carillon of bells scented like
frankincense, arousing the austerity
of many lives who lose themselves in the aroma,
(freeing themselves from tobacco addiction
or bleeding dentures in an inspiration of song).

In a froth of yin splendor the laughing
eyes light the fires of my meditation, salvaging
my heart from a lonely ocean, delivering me
unto a spring of spirituality, clarifying
my blood as I travel astrally to another
planet where I drink the tea of oblivion.
