"Indigo"
By Connie Price

Shadow land
Personal design
Simple retreat
Deep in my mind
Fully immersed
Welcomed by
          Indigo

Below the surface
Weightless calm
Infinite pleasure
Healing balm
Yielding to
Infusing with
          Indigo

To clarify
The steps I make
Panacea
Oh, sweetest taste
Rests on my tongue
I savor
          Indigo

I emerge
In satin stain
Refreshed, renewed
Clarity gained
Now in my eyes
And on my voice
          Indigo

"Sign on the Dotted Line"
By Connie Price

Shut up and listen to us
We decide what's best for you
No questions allowed, get in line
Your attitude adjustment is past due
Who do you think you are?
We won't put up with your kind
No creative thought, unless we approve
Sign here on the dotted line
That hair, your clothes and jewelry
Where have your parents been?
It's obvious we are needed
To teach you self disclipine
So much work upon our shoulders
We must start with the way you look
Teaching is our second priority
Oh, here is a cover for your only book

"Jubilation"
By Connie Price

An unknown voice
A haunting image
Fearful
Bottomless
Callused heart
                 then
A warm touch
A breath given
Love shared
Wounds healed
Inward rejoicing
JUBILIATION!

"Shadow Dancing"
By Connie Price

I've been shadow dancing with a near life experience
I'm at the turn-style to the real world
But then I gaze out to the sea of clouds that hide everything
Fear is the friend I hold close to me
Her icy hand in mine
She keeps me grounded
Maker of the lock and key

I've been teasing the flutter bugs that need the light to live
Holding them back with just one word
Acid tears fill up cracks where wing expanse should be
Failure is the friend I hold close to me
She keeps me focused
On what I can never be
Keeper of the lock and key

I reach out and scoop in light that cannot be seen
It slowly resucitates dead hopes and dreams
Empowers me to shake loose fear and failure
It penetrates and mends crumbled wings
Seeker is the true friend that stands with in me
Giver of life, lady of love
Destroyer of the lock and key

"Monster"
By Connie Price

Tear our eyes out
Steal our souls
The door is open
You're out of control

High places have changed you
A monster you've become
Vicious hunger
There's no place to run

Our cries are your music
Your words are our doom
We run for the darkness
And howl at the moon
I'm a poet, musician and lover of nature.  I began writing poetry when my children were young.(Now they are all teenagers.)  I enjoyed writing silly storys in rhyme to amuse them. Now my poetry is about the beauty of nature, life's struggles, friendship, and love. I also write lyrics and compose music for my guitar. I spend much time out in nature.  I hike in the mountains and red rock canyons and raft on the mighty Colorado. Some of my favorite poets are E.E. Cummings, Audre Lorde and William Blake.
