| Ode To A Muse By Rudolph J. Cecera Inspired By & Dedicated To Penelope Lagos (my favorite "Muse") It gives incentive and inspiration and every Artist needs one, it turns nothing into something and makes tedious work seem fun. It stems from Greek mythology and the loins of almighty Zeus, for he had nine beautiful daughters who all let creativity loose. Erato inspired love & lyrics and Polyhymnia gave us hymns, Euterpe gave us music while Terpsichore answered Dancer's whims. Urania inspired astronomy and all things from outer space, while Thalia inspired comedy, which gave us the pie-in-the-face. Calliope was in charge of eloquence and Melapomene all things tragic, and Clio gave Writers the ability. . .to turn pen & paper into magic. Of course their traditions live on today and their entities have different forms, they can be found at bus stops and in parks or even in college dorms. Wherever there is imagination. . .one or more could feed it by giving artistic motive. . .that keeps your creative fuse lit. I love my Muse and all its power, whether it be from here or ancient Greece, for without it I wouldn't have written. . .this fun and interesting piece. RETURN |
