"Safety Net"
By Kristen Howe

How wonderful it's to know you're loved and that people care about you,
They're there for you to share holidays with gifts and cards,
Or for special occasions, like graduations, and to any career celebrations,
From tears of joy to tears of sadness .  . . they're there with love.

From weddings, births and funerals, they're your support system,
With well wishes of happy tidings to sorrow and grief,
They're your safety net to fall back on, when in need,
As greetings and salutations for any joyous occasion.

Friends, family, neighbors and relatives are there with open arms,
Especially when someone from your town is a war hero,
Or a fallen soldier, who served our country well and proud,
It's no surprise that they'll be strong when you're weak.

Although far and away, by phone, fax, email and express mail,
They celebrate your birthday, even by webcam and videophone,
Especially if they're soldiers of war with a care package,
Signed, sealed and delivered, sealed with a kiss . . . with love.
