| Soul Mate
By Matthew Brian because she did not back down and when the lights were blazing she sat there with her extinguisher and her calm cool love. and when you saw her walk down the street with rapid flutter fire of the legs and look up at you with those innocent hurt eyes you knew you had what people talk about when they say they found something special. because even now, six months later, she jumps out at you at night when youre in bed trying to fall asleep and always even in dreams she is ready to go with you wherever you roam. because she loved you like no person will ever love you and she had the faith in you that no person will ever have in you and because when things went bad and they always went bad she was there, always there. she was right for you. almost too perfect. so you let her get away. *** December By Matthew Brian This is the month when the cold races through and you feel the wind against the back of your neck. Enter a stupor lose a loved one get tired of the same old junk. This is the month of old bills torn jackets and ear muffs far too large. Watch a haywire stock market attend garish parties try so hard to remain nonchalant. This is the month when the leaves get covered in charcoaled snow and the colleges close down and the Christmas Carols and Hanukah songs fill the air with sadness. Soon everyone will know. This is the month of Death. |
