Hi everybody, and welcome to my personal web page.  There were two reasons why I crreated the Genealogy section on this website.  One is the hope that we will eventually trace our family history and see who and where we came from.  Though I'm not always sure I really want to know some of the things we'll probably learn, I have also come to realize that most ANY family could (or should) be concerned about the same thing in their own family, even if they don't want to admit it.  So called "good people" and so called "bad people" are in EVERY family.  Beyond that, I just have an unexplainable desire to learn about my ancestors.  What were some of their names?  Am I really Scotch/Irish?  What different occupations have our past ancestors had?  What did they look like?  Were any of them rich?  I know I am not alone in my desire to learn family genealogy, as genealogy ranks 2nd as the most researched subject on the internet.  It makes sense to me then, that if I want to know, other may want to know too.  Which leads me to the other reason for this site.

The second reason is more futuristic.  As both of my parents have now passed, I recognize that another generation of knowledge passed with them.  And isn't it something how you never miss the water 'till the well runs dry.  Now that they're gone, now that they're not here for me to ask questions of, now as the new generation is being born, is when I realize what my own generation  has missed, and will never aquire.  Everything from seeing a picture of a Grandmother I never knew, or learning about a Great Aunt that owned a 7 chair barber shop, having a little more knowledge of medical histories, or stories of forgery and fraud.  All the little tidbits that might be good to know and entertaining to discover.  Most of this information, for my generation, has already passed into the twilight.  However, after seeing the website that my son Ryan had designed of he and wife Leslie,  (you're web link here) I decided to do a little more than just keep a pile of photographs in a drawer.  So I leave this information about me and my life, for future generations, present family, and anybody else that might be interested.

I encourage all of my own family members to make your own family's website, and hope they will feel free to add it to this one.  It is something that can be passed on to future generations, and in a form that is easily duplicated, available for all.  If you don't want to do something as public as a web site, perhaps you could consider gathering what family information you have, keep it compiled, labeled, and at least a little organized, along with a sufficient means of duplicatiion, that you'll have something of educational, historical and sentimental importance to pass to your own future generations.

Love to all,

Linda
