Located four and one half miles SW of Golden City is owned by the Missouri Prairie Foundation and is designated a Natural Landmark registered by the United States Department of Interior. Golden Prairie hosts more than 350 native plants and grasses and is home to a flock of Greater Prairie Chickens. Arrangements can be made to view teh prairie chicken mating ritual in early spring. The Greater Prairie Chicken is an endangered species in Missouri. |
