Owned by The Nature Conservancy and located four miles NW of Golden City.
Golden Prairie Other attractions in the area include Stocton Lake, only 30 minutes away,
Harry S. Truman birthplace in Lamar, Precious Moments in Carthage and Prairie State Park in Liberal.
Located four and one half miles SW of Golden City is owned by the Missouri Prairie Foundation and is designated a Natural Landmark registered by the United States Department of Interior.

Golden Prairie hosts more than 350 native plants and grasses and is home to a flock of Greater Prairie Chickens.  Arrangements can be made to view teh prairie chicken mating ritual in early spring.  The Greater Prairie Chicken is an endangered species in Missouri.
