Review of Dora 2001

The DORA will be the climax of a three-day event this year: on March 2 there will be a show called 'Balun 2' with Croatian and international singers in. No news yet on what's planned for the Saturday.

Unfortunately Maja Blagdan's Zaljubljena hasn't got through. In fact there are apparently so many songs in the same position that a DORINA festival, perhaps in Opatija (the proper home of the DORA anyway) may be organised with the best of the songs that didn't make it! (DORINA has now got its own page) Another disappointment was Ivana Banfic, whose Ne bih te mogla voljeti više did get through, but she withdrew because she couldn't sing in English.

This year's DORA will take place on the 4th of March in Zagreb. There will be 20 songs, and all the singers must have released at least one CD previously - so supposedly no newcomers this year - although that is certainly what "Perle", Pospiš and Krajcar look like.

Several major changes this year:

All the points will be given by televoting (regionally, rather than one big televote, so expect the usual trundle round all the towns beginning with Z).
The extreme nationalist Ksenija Urlicic, reported to have fixed finals in the past (and with some shady connection to the House of Huljic) has been sacked from her responsibility for the DORA. Her replacements are Marija Nemcic and Velimir Djuretic.
