She loved dancing and used to do artistic roller-skating but gave up because of work commitments.
She was also a bit of a fitness freak.
On leaving school Mel had really good grades and intended on going to uni to study to become a teacher.
After leaving H+A , Mel has launched her own line of lingerie called "An angel at my bedside" and has made a fitness video.
In 1997 she revealed a new Mel tot he world with a sleek new hair cut and more sophisticated style which suggested Angel was well and truly behind her.
