In 1991 the Utahraptor was discovered in eastern Utah. Three paleontologists named it in 1993. Since then, the name has not changed. Anatomy Utahraptor was a mid-Cretaceous dinosaur with 9-15 inch long ?killer-claws.? It was a fast-moving ,bird-like dinosaur and got around on two legs. It had a large head and a flexible neck. The Utahraptor had strong jaws and super-sharp teeth. It also had long ,curved claws and powerful shoulder bones to help grip on to it?s prey. The long tail it had helped it make sharp turns and balance itself. It had eyes and a large brain which made it very smart. This dinosaur could have weighed one ton and was 16-23 feet long. Behavior/Diet The Utahraptor could have hunted in packs. It may have attacked herbivores larger than itself. This means it was a carnivore and probably ate any dinosaur it could rip apart. The Utahraptor could kill any prey it wanted to if it was hunting in packs. |
