Remembering my childhood...

HK Box office Taking:

  • There was once a saying about kids: when an adult talk to a child, they will remember forever That is exactly what I used to be, until the least few years, as I am getting older now. Perhaps, I am becoming more and more forgettable, as I continue to age on, to now an ironic still young age of 19. It is funny how I able to balance an extensive social life, full-time university, part time work at retail and still able to dig up time to watch movies and write what I feel about them. Life is busy and after a year that has more up than downs, and where happiness is becoming a word that is rarely mentioned, I once again wish I was still a kid an ambivalent kid, an innocent kid roaming around here and there and having fun. Then again, life isnt all that depressing, as there are ups, stuff that I never experience before that I got the opportunity to and a string of accomplishments that sort of amazed even me. It is funny to consider how a tiny little movie starring Kelly Chen and Aaron Kwok can influence me in writing in this manner a blog-like style today, but then again, this was a pretty good inspirational movie that got me pretty heart-felt.

I used to be in a choir back in primary school, and I surely know exactly how the kids feel in this flick the excitement of performing in front of an audience and the thrill of seeing my dad, mum and sister all looking on, supporting me emotionally. Yes, I am not a good singer, but I surely did try my best. It is funny looking back almost 7 years ago, that I even try out singing. I have always love sports, but singing was just not me. Perhaps I would never have tried out, if it wasnt for me liking this girl who was in choir. It seems so funny and cute now to realize, but it was something that I will not regret. Believe I was worst than the kids in the movie at first, as all I did was just stand and move my mouth, at least until I realize how much I want to be part of the team the thrill, the friendships I made, the enduring early hours, the lunch hours we were practicing, it was all incredible yet tough going.

The moment that I performed at Sydney Opera House, is a moment that I will never forget, in front of crowd of omg numbers, and the most important of all my family watching me. It is that feeling of love and support that made the moment all the more unforgettable. Sure, we didnt win, but its the experience, the opportunity that made a hell lot of differences. It is sad and true that I never sing again, well except for sing K, but my childhood was damn memorable and this movie did heck of a job to remind and nearly got me to tears.

While, this movie may seem to be, just another clich looking flick, about a bunch of kids who were outcast to achieve what they are capable of. There isnt really much happening with this movie, however, as ironic as it seems, it is the lighthearted manner that director Cheung treated it, that made it work. Kelly Chen in her screen debut is as elegant as ever, though very pretty, has never really caught my attention; perhaps, it is her appearance and style of being so elegant and coldness that I do not want my potential girl friend to be. Nonetheless, Whatever Will Be, Will Be is a heart-felt movie worth watching, reminding of your childhood experiences and bringing out the child within you once again  and once again, inspire you to do your best

  • I rate it 9/10
