1 1/2 cup sugar 2 1/2 cups of sifted flour
1/2 cup shortening 2 heaping tbsp cocoa
1 egg 1/4 tbsp salt
1 cup milk 1/2 cup hot coffee
1 tbsp vinegar 1 tsp Vanilla
2 tbsp baking soda
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 13" x 8" pan or
two layer pans.
2. Cream sugar and shortening together until smooth.
3. In another bowl, sift together flour, cocoa, and salt.
Set aside.
4. Add 1 egg to creamed mixture and BEAT, BEAT, BEAT!
5. Prepare hot coffee. Set aside.
6. Put a tbsp of vinegar into a cup of milk. Add the
baking soda to the milk/vinegar mixture and after it
bubbles, add to creamed mixture.
7. Add flour mixture to the creamed mixture. When the
flour is well-incorporated, stir in hot coffee. BEAT!
8. Add vanilla and pour into greased pan. BEAT!
9. Bake for about 25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes
out clean.
