Heart & Soul
Episode 27
Get Mine, Get
Yours
By Allan
Craig
Carrie stood, watching as Diane stormed out of the guesthouse. She
took another deep breath before rushing over to the door and closing it before
Diane could get out.
"Carrie
you’re being very stupid here," Diane stared at her daughter in law, ready
to pounce. If Carrie wasn’t pregnant with her grandchild, Diane would be
throwing her on the floor, "Get out of my way before I do something I
regret."
Carrie
raised her hand and slapped Diane right across the face with a loud smack.
Diane grabbed her face and looked at Carrie, stunned and furious.
"You’ll
regret that," Diane threatened, her cheek throbbing, but she wasn’t going
to let Carrie know that.
"I’ve
been wanting to do that for so long, there’s no way I regret it," Carrie
looked down her nose at Diane, feeling victorious, "Now you stay away from
me, or I’ll tell
"What
are you talking about?" Diane chuckled, "I mean I know that pregnancy
messes with your hormones, but I didn’t think it made you dilusional. I’m not
‘up to’ anything, Carrie."
"Well
that would be a first," Carrie scoffed, "Don’t play dumb, Diane. You
know as well as I do that you’re only doing the dear old aunt act to get her
trust so that you can scam her out of her inheritance. You’re a greedy,
scheming bitch, Diane, and the sooner Kendall, and the rest of this family
realize that, the better."
"Those
are very bold accusations you’re making," Diane reached for the doorknob,
"But it would be very difficult to gain any sort of proof considering it’s
a lie. One big fat lie. Just like your marriage to Greg."
"My
relationship with Greg is none of your business," Carrie insisted,
"And I’ll grant you I don’t have any proof, for now. You’re good at
covering your tracks Diane, I’ll give you that, but sooner or later you’ll slip
up, and as soon as you do you’ll be out on your ass."
Diane
looked at Carrie one last time, with an intense, enraged glare, "I think
you’ll find that you’ll be the one of here."
Diane
stormed out of the guesthouse, slamming the door behind her. Carrie took a deep
breath and sighed, watching as Diane marched over the concrete path towards the
mansion, "The sooner she’s out of here, the better."
Lisa and Ashley sat on the tan suede sofa sipping their mochas
from large, chunky, white mugs. Lisa’s heavily straightened hair had gotten
slightly blonder, her eyeliner darker, her denim skirt shorter, Ashley’s
influence on the girl was clear. Ashley, sporting a more mature look, had her
light blonde hair wavy, with her new chocolate brown low lights complimenting
the blonde. Her tight vintage t-shirt sported a ‘Betty’s Diner’ logo and her
baggy, low slung jeans were ripped in all the right places.
"So where are we going tonight?" Ashley fiddled with the
silver locket on the chain around her neck. Nick had given it to her just
before he left town. She kept meaning to take it off, but she couldn’t bear to
part with the one last reminder of Nick, no matter how much she hated him for
breaking up with her.
"Well, Stacey Williams is having a party. Her parents are out
of town or something, and she’s got the place to herself," Lisa enthused,
excited at the thought of an unsupervised gathering.
"Hmm…" Ashley considered the offer, "Maybe we’ll
make a cameo before we head into the city."
"Okay," Lisa glanced at her pink Britney Spears watch,
"Well I better go, I said to my mom I’d baby sit for our neighbour. Meet
me back here at eight?"
"Sounds good," Ashley watched as her friend got up and
put on her jacket, "Seeya."
"Seeya," Lisa picked up her bag and walked towards the
door. As she went to open it, she looked up to see someone holding it open for
her as he waited to enter the coffee house. She recognized him as Leo, but was
too shy to say anything. Instead she smiled and rushed out of the café. Leo
walked in and bypassed the counter as soon as he got a glimpse of Ashley.
"We really need to stop meeting like this," he joked,
leaning on the back of the couch that Ashley sat on.
"Hey…it’s…Leo, right?" Ashley pretended, playing cool.
In reality she hadn't been able to stop
thinking about him since they first met.
"So you remembered me? I’m flattered," Leo smiled,
"Mind if sit there?"
"Course not," Ashley smiled, flipping her hair over her
right shoulder as Leo sat down to her left.
"So, Ashley, was that your friend I saw just leaving?"
"Yeah, that’s Lisa. She had to baby sit"
"Now that is just criminal," Leo slid closer to Ashley,
"Leaving a beautiful girl like you on your own, at the mercy of random
sleazy guys. Good thing I was here to rescue you," Leo admired Ashley’s
stunning features as she laughed, "Listen. This may sound a little bit
forward, considering we barely know each other, but I’ve got two VIP passes to
the opening of a new club in Oakridge tonight. I know it may be short notice,
and a…gorgeous…girl like you must get booked up pretty quickly, but would you
do me the honour of being my date?"
"I’d love to," Ashley smiled, still playing it cool.
"Great. Where would you like me to pick you up?"
Ashley took out a small pad and pen from her bag and jotted down
her address and telephone number before ripping off the piece of paper and
handing it to Leo, "That’s my address."
"Well then, I’ll pick you up at eight. But now I better go,
places to go, people to see," Leo got up from the chair.
"See you tonight," Ashley watched as Leo got up, smiling
from ear to ear.
"I’m looking forward to it," Leo winked, kissing
Ashley’s hand before walking out of the café.
Hartford and Stone Law
Offices: Wesley’s Office
Wesley sat behind is desk, tapping his pen impatiently on the
shiny desk. The door opened and Madison strolled in, lowering herself onto the
seat facing Wesley.
"You wanted to see me?" she crossed her legs and leaned
back in the chair.
"I cant wait any longer," Wesley looked Madison straight
in the eye, not even her low cut silky dress could distract him, "I need Matt
gone as soon as."
Madison rolled her eyes, "Wesley how many times have we been
over this? This is a very delicate operation. One wrong move and we could both
be doing time."
"I don’t care!" Wesley growled, "Last night he made
her a candlelit dinner while I’m up in my bedroom so I don’t disturb them. I
cant take much more of this Madison."
"Well you’ll have to," Madison smoothed down her dress, "Go
on, let him enjoy his time with her. It’ll be over soon enough, and then Alex
will be all yours," Madison shot Wesley a devious smile.
Sterling Enterprises:
Kendall’s Office
Kendall sat at her desk, tapping her freshly manicured fingernails
on the highly polished desk, adorned with various magazines. Her boredom had
got the better of her, and she was in no mood to do serious work. She played
around with her hair, which was tied back in a sleek low ponytail with a small
section at the front parted to the side. She looked up to see Greg standing
before her following a knock at the door.
"Well look who it is," Kendall smiled fakely, "Thought
of anyone else to run my company for me?"
"No, I just wanted to say sorry," Greg sat down opposite
Kendall, "It wasn’t my place to get involved, I just wanted to see you
have some fun instead of being tied down with this job."
"Look, Greg, I’m just as new to this as the next newly
orphaned girl but you gotta realize I’m not gonna run this company into the
ground."
"I know, I know," Greg sighed, rubbing his forehead, "I
guess, because I always thought someday all this would be mine, I just want it
to do well."
"Whatever," Kendall sat up, "Can we just call this
a perm and start over?"
"A perm?" Greg looked at his cousin, confused.
"Yeah, like a mistake," Kendall rolled her eyes, "Three
years ago I got one. Never again. It’s something I wanna forget about, like
yesterday?"
"Oh right, I get you," Greg smiled, "Sounds good to
me."
"So how are things with you and Carrie? Megan told me that
things are a bit Ben and J.Lo between you two at the mo. And there was me
thinking you two were like meant to be…like Brad n Jen?"
"Well I love her, I always will," Greg sat back in the
chair, "It’s just, right now, things aren't great. I mean, yeah, she’s
carrying my baby and everything, but some of the things she said were totally
unforgivable."
"Like what?"
"She’s my
mother!" Greg defended Diane, turning his back on his wife.
"And why do you
think that is?" Carrie snapped, "Just to keep John from leaving her
all those years ago the way he’s doing now!"
"Nothing important," Greg lied, "I just wanna
forget all about it. I think I might have to accept that things could be over
with her. Carrie and my mom will never see eye to eye and Carrie expects me to
choose, and I cant do that."
"This whole family is totally fucked up," Kendall stood
up and turned to face the window, the view of Oakridge at it’s busiest, fifteen
floors down, was all she could look at, "Take my darling brother for
example. He’s been here a whole five minutes and already he’s out getting
totally wasted and getting into another random girl. And sorry Greg, but Uncle Joe
wants fired into Diane so badly it’s vomit inducing."
"You think? I’ve never noticed."
"You wouldn’t," Kendall giggled, "All you can see
is that totally one in a million hope that your mom and dad will do a Ross and
Rachel and get back together, but it’s not gonna happen."
"Kendall you’re making it out as if our lives are like one
big soap opera," Greg joked.
"And you think it’s not? My mom dies just after managing to
get her hands on everything your dad owns, leaving it all to me and Leo while
your dad is penniless, meanwhile, your marriage is on the rocks and your wife
is pregnant and your uncle is making a move on your mom. If that’s not like
something out of The Young and the
Restless I don’t know what is."
"Except this is real life Kendall," Greg got up from his
seat and walked over to the window, where his cousin stood, "There’s no
back to reality when someone yells cut. Every move we make is permanent, it can’t
just be undone with ‘it was all a dream’. And no matter how hard we try, there’s
not always going to be a happy ending to the story."
West Street
Megan Sterling exited New Look beauty salon blowing on her freshly
manicured acrylics. She felt her cellphone vibrate inside her brown Louis
Vuitton handbag, but it would have to wait; she wasn’t blowing her $50 manicure
on what was probably just another phone call from Will begging her to give him
another try. She scanned the busy street, her eyes locking on a man standing
across the street at an ATM Machine.
Marc Monroe folded the crisp $50 note he had just withdrew from
the ATM machine and slid it into his soft brown leather wallet. He slid the
wallet into the pocket of his jeans and ran his large hands through his thick
hair before turning and walking down the street.
Megan watched as the man turned around. She was impressed. Even
through his black t-shirt she could see the shape of his well defined body, his
muscular arms bulging out of the sleeves. He started walking down towards Fix,
the coffee shop situated on the corner of West Street and Nolan Place. Megan
ignored the constant vibrations coming from her bag and began to follow him, her
stiletto heels pounding the pavement. She had to see more of this guy.
Marc opened the door to the café and was instantly hit by the
smell of coffee blended with the cold air conditioning. He wished he had
brought a jacket with him, or a shirt, anything other than just the thin black
cotton t-shirt he had opted for this morning. Living out of a suitcase in his
sister’s guest room meant he wasn’t able to make the best decisions when it
came to wardrobe. He headed over to the counter, where a pretty girl served
him.
"Hey, what can I get you?" she asked, her eyes admiring his chiseled
features.
"I’ll have a….hey I’m new here? What’s good?" he smiled,
revealing his perfect white grin.
"It all depends what you're into," the girl flirted, "You
look like a non fat hazelnut latte kinda guy."
"That sounds great, give me one of those," Marc winked
at the girl.
"No problem that’ll be $1.95, you can pay me when I bring it
over," the girl smiled.
Megan entered the coffee house and watched as Marc sat down at one
of the smaller tables. She walked over to the counter and waited to be served.
The girl behind the counter barely acknowledged her presence as she prepared a
coffee. Megan cleared her throat in the hope of attracting the girl’s
attention. The girl turned around and looked at Megan.
"Well…are you going to order something or are you just going
to stand here all day staring?" the girl barely even made eye contact with
Megan.
"I’ll have a non fat hazelnut latte thanks," Megan
smiled fakely.
"That’s $2.95, I’ll call on you when it’s ready," the
girl rolled her eyes, turning away to prepare the order. Megan walked over to
the table next to Mark and sat down, inhaling the scent of his aftershave as
she opened her purse and took out her phone; 4 missed calls: Will; she quickly
pushed the exit button and switched it off.
Josh & Jessica’s
Josh walked into the apartment fresh from the gym. He dumped his
bag and headed to the fridge, where he took out a carton of orange juice and
took a swig.
"You’re back," Jessica appeared in the doorway from the
bedroom, "How was the gym?"
"It was alright," Josh put the carton back in the fridge
and closed it, "What have you been doing today?"
"Oh nothing, just trying to get in contact with that mother
of mine," Jessica rolled her eyes, "God, you’d think she’d been
abducted by aliens, not gotten divorced."
"Maybe she just needs some time to sort her life out,"
Josh took Jessica’s hand and led her to the sofa, "How about I take you
out to dinner tonight?"
"Sounds good," Jessica smiled, "As long as it’s not
The Bungalow. I’m not giving Pamela Lockwood another cent."
Josh sighed, "Jess, Pamela isn't responsible for this
divorce. Look, you’re gonna have to accept that your folks are getting
divorced. You cant change it, and no matter how hard you try to ignore Patrick,
it’s not gonna change the fact that he’s divorcing your mother and it’s not
gonna change the fact that he’s your father."
"I suppose," Jessica half-smiled, knowing her boyfriend
was talking sense but despising him for doing so.
Josh handed Jessica the phone, "Call your dad, Jess."
Fix Coffee House
Megan watched as the girl from behind the counter handed Marc his
coffee and as he handed her some money. Marc looked over at her, giving her a
look that said "hi". Megan smiled, watching as he got up and walked
over to her table.
"Is this seat taken?" he grinned, flashing that perfect
smile to Megan, "Only I’ve just arrived in town and could do with some
company."
"No, sit down. I’m Megan by the way, Megan Sterling."
"Oh my god Megan!" his eyes lit up, "Don’t tell me you
don’t remember me?"
"Marc Monroe!" it suddenly clicked with Megan, "It’s
gotta be what? Like eight years?"
"Something like that. God, I knew you looked familiar, small
world eh?"
The waitress yelled out Megan’s order.
"Let me get that for you," Marc got up and strolled over
to the counter, coming back over with Megan’s coffee and carefully placing it
on the table.
"Thanks very much, Marc," Megan smiled. She hadn't been
this attracted to anyone in a long time, she wasn’t about to let Marc get out
of her sight.
Josh & Jessica’s
Jessica sat holding the cordless telephone in her hand, running
her fingers up the smooth plastic casing as they hovered over the buttons.
"Call him, Jess," Josh urged, eager to see his
girlfriend make peace with her father, "if not because you want to, do it
for me."
"What do you mean, do it for you?" Jessica raised an
eyebrow.
"Well let’s be honest babe," Josh put his hand on
Jessica’s shoulder, "You haven't been the easiest person to live with
since Patrick dropped his little bombshell."
"And how is telling my dad he’s forgiven gonna change the way
I feel Josh?" Jessica rolled her eyes, flopping back on the sofa, "I’m
not gonna just accept the fact that the people I’ve thought of as in love, my
rock, always there for me when I need help, are no longer gonna be there."
"They will still be there for you Jess," Josh rubbed her
shoulders, "It’s just they wont be there for you together. They’ll be
there individually. Nothing’s gonna change…they’re still your parents."
"Whatever," Jessica began punching in the buttons, "I
want to make it clear that I am doing this just to please you," Jessica
held the phone up to her ear, "and I am not hap-" Jessica’s voice
changed as soon as her father picked up the phone and a fake smile overcame her
face, "Daddy! Hi!"
LATER THAT NIGHT…
Warehouse 34
Leo pulled up at the riverside club and got out of the car,
scooting round to the passenger side and opening the door for Ashley. Dressed
in a tight black leather mini skirt, low cut black blouse and red bra poking
through, Ashley looked at least ten years older. Her hair, scrunched and messy
looking, and her thick black eye make up would have made her unrecognizable. As
they approached the old warehouse, Leo put his arm around Ashley.
"You up for some fun tonight?" Leo pulled Ashley in
closer, careful to dodge the stiletto heels adorning her feet.
"I’m up for anything tonight," Ashley put her arm around
Leo’s waist, a devilish glint in her eyes.
Fix Coffee House
Lisa entered the coffee house and looked around to see if Ashley
was already there. When she couldn’t see her friend in the café, she sat down
and checked her makeup.
Alex’s Car
Alex drove through the streets of Oakridge, barely concentrating
on the road before her. All she could think about was Matt…and Wesley…and who
she was going to choose. She knew she had to choose one, but who? Wesley.
Wesley had been her first love, the father to her children. But things went
wrong in the past, what’s to say they wouldn’t go wrong again? And then there
was Matt. Matt made her so happy. She loved Matt. But she was in love with
Wesley too. Either way, she would lose one of them.
"What am I going to do?" Alex sighed.
Warehouse 34
Christina Aguilera: Get
Mine, Get Yours plays
Leo and Ashley stood in the middle of the boiling nightclub,
dancing to the slow hip hop music blaring out of every corner of the club. Leo’s
hands rested on Ashley’s hips, moving from side to side to the beat of the
music. Ashley ran her hands down Leo’s torso, feeling every muscle in his chest
and stomach through his black shirt. She undid a few of his buttons, exposing
his smooth chest and running her hands over it. Now, with just two buttons
keeping his shirt closed, Leo moved his hands around to Ashley’s ass and up her
skirt. He looked deep into her eyes and waited for a signal. She smiled at him,
nodded her head, and took his hand, leading him up the metal staircase to the
toilets above…
Can you put your hands
on my waistline,
Want your skin up
against mine,
Move my hips to the
baseline,
Let me get mine, you get
yours.
Hang a please don’t disturb
sign,
Move my back into a slow
grind,
Baby to the pit of my
spine,
Let me get mine, you get
yours.
Fix Coffee House
Lisa stared at her watch. Eight thirty seven. Ashley was over an
hour late. She sighed, furious that her friend had abandoned her.
Across the coffee shop, Megan and Marc still sat engrossed in each
others company.
"So do you wanna go grab something to drink?" Marc asked,
leaning in closer to Megan.
"What have we been doing for the last few hours?" Megan
joked.
"Yeah I’m thinking a few bars, maybe a club or something. I
mean I know I’m hardly dressed up, but hey, I could pass, right?"
"You bet. And besides, you’re with Megan Sterling, you’ll get
in anywhere," Megan laughed, "One of the few perks of being in a rich
family in a little city."
"I’m gonna have to hang onto you," Marc winked, "I’m
not letting you out of my sight. Me and you are gonna have some fun Megan
Sterling"
Warehouse 34
Ashley led Leo into the toilets and closed a cubicle door behind
them. She undid the remaining buttons on Leo’s shirt and removed it, throwing
it over the cubicle.
"You’re not getting that back tonight," Ashley grinned, admiring Leo’s
body, "I have to say, I’m impressed."
"You're not too bad yourself," Leo ran his hands through
Ashley’s hair, kissing her neck intensely.
"Do you wanna?" Ashley bit on her lip.
"Do you even need to ask?" Leo unzipped his jeans and
pulled down the waistband of his white boxer briefs.
Come on and freak my
body, we can get nasty naughty,
All night a private
party.
Gotta hit that spot just
right, work me like a nine-to-five.
This ain’t about the
kissin’ and huggin’, cause this is a physical lovin.
Straight sweatin’ our
bodies are rubbin.
Gotta hit that spot just
right, work me like a nine-to-five.
Leo zipped his jeans back up and kissed Ashley’s neck, working his
way up to her lips. He unlocked the cubicle and walked over to the mirror,
leaning against the sink and fixing his hair. Ashley followed him and wrapped
her arms around his shirtless body, kissing his neck and smiling.
"That was…great," Leo smiled, taking her hands and
running them down his chest.
"Tell me about it," Ashley ran her hands down the front of Leo’s
trousers, sliding her hands into his pockets.
"Ashley babes, where’s my shirt?" Leo looked around the bathroom,
searching for the black garment.
"I told you, you wouldn’t get it back tonight," Ashley
pulled away and slid in between Leo and the mirror, "Besides, I like you
better this way."
"Yeah but it’s not exactly clubbing gear, is it. I don’t wanna
be mistaken for a podium dancer."
Ashley kissed Leo again, "Loosen up." Ashley stuck her
hands into Leo’s pocket again and pulled out his ‘lighter’.
"You don’t wanna be touching that," Leo grabbed it off
of her.
"Why? It’s only a lighter?" Ashley raised her eyebrow. She
snatched it back, and opened it up to see his stash of cocaine inside, "Is
this what I think it is?"
"Yeah, but its only for some buzz baby, not a 24/7 thing.
Want some?"
Ashley hesitated…she didn’t know if she wanted to do drugs…she didn’t
know if she wanted to be with a guy who did drugs. She looked Leo up and down.
He was physically perfect. His build, his body, his face, his hair, his skin,
his style, his mind…he made her feel like an adult, and she loved that about
him. It was only a little coke…it wasn’t going to do any harm, "Sure, why
not?"
