Heart & Soul
Episode 1.14

By Allan Craig

Oakridge General Hospital
Nick watched as the doctors and nurses crowded round Ashley.

“Could you please call Mr. Abbot?” asked a nurse.

“Sure” another nurse replied.

“No, I’ll do it” Nick offered, before walking out of the hospital room.

The
Sterling Mansion
“Megan” said Diane in a breathy voice, “What, what are you doing here?”

“I need an excuse to visit my family, do I?” Megan replied.

“No, not at all. But I’m the only one who’s here”

“Where’s everyone else?” asked Megan

“Greg’s at work. And your father, he’s gone away for a while”

“Can I go to my old room?”

“Sure”

Megan walked up the stairs, leaving Diane and Carrie alone. Diane’s tone of voice changed.

“I suppose you had nothing to do with this” said Diane sarcastically.

“Megan called and asked me to pick her up” Carrie replied.

“And you didn’t think to tell Greg or me?”

“It was very last minute”

“Sure it was Carrie. I have a feeling you had something to do with this, and if you think I’m going to let you take Greg away from me, you are very, very wrong”

Kim Logan’s House
Alexandra walked out of Kim’s house and got into her car.

“That’s her sorted” she thought smugly.

The
Sterling Mansion
Megan unpacked a small case. There was another two huge cases that were still packed up. She took out a photo, it was from Greg and Carrie’s wedding. Megan, Diane, John, Greg and Carrie stood together, looking happy.

“Sorry I have to do this mom, but you deserve it” she took a red pen out of her bag and drew a cross over Diane’s face. There was a knock at her door. Megan quickly hid the photo in her pocket.

“Come in” she yelled, before Carrie walked in.

“So now what?” asked Megan.

“I was hoping you could help me there” Carrie replied, “So John walked out on Diane, what can we do now?”

“I don’t know”

“Well, who do we know that really hates your mom and that your mom hates?” asked Carrie. Another photo stared up at Megan, it was of a woman with short dark hair at the wedding.

“I know just the person Carrie, leave it to me, my mom is going to lose it all” Megan smirked.

Oakridge General Hospital: Cafeteria
Nathan and Gillian sat down for some coffee in the hospital cafeteria.

“So when are you coming back?” asked Nathan.

“When? I think you mean ‘if’. I don’t know if I want to” Gillian responded, staring off into space.

“You have to. You cant just let him-”

“Ruin everything I worked for? Save it, I already had this talk with my mom”

Kim Logan’s House
Kim Logan looked in the mirror. Her face was red with pain. Her hair was a complete mess and a bruise was forming around her eye.

The Abbot House
Alex walked into the house. Will sat on the sofa with his head buried in his hands.

“Where’s your father?” asked Alex.

“At the hospital,” Will looked up, “They called about Ashley.”

“She’s gotten worse, hasn’t she? It’s all my fault.”

“No, not at all mom, she’s gotten better. She’s awake.”

“Then let’s get to the hospital. Quick.”

The Sterling Mansion: Megan’s Room

“Okay…see you soon…bye.” Megan hung up the phone. She picked up another photo, one of Diane by herself. Megan ripped it in half.

The Sterling Mansion: Guest House

Carrie sat waiting for Greg coming home. The front door opened and in walked her husband. Carrie got up and kissed her husband.

“There’s a visitor for you.” Carrie smiled.

“Where?” asked Greg.

“The main house.”

“Who?”

“That’s a surprise. Come on, let’s go.

Oakridge General Hospital

Ashley looked around the room. Wesley and Nick stood beside her. The door opened and Will and Alex walked in.

“How is she?” asked Will.

“A bit slurry but there is no trace of brain damage. We’ll need to keep monitoring her though.” A doctor explained.

“She’s so beautiful.” Alexandra smiled, a tear running down her face.

“She’s gonna be alright.” Wesley put his arm around his ex wife.

The Bungalow

Pamela and Gina stood at the bar chatting.

“So you’ll be okay to work next Saturday for a double shift?” Pamela penciled it into the timetable.

“Yeah, unless something comes up.” Gina fixed her outfit.

“Like what? Ben?” Pamela joked.

“Possibly.”

“If you don’t mind me saying, Gina,” Pamela looked up from her pad, “You two are getting pretty close pretty quick.”

“Well I do mind, Pamela.”

“I’m only giving you an opinion as a friend.”

“Well you're not a friend, you’re my boss. There’s a line between work and personal life. And you just crossed it. My shift’s done, I’m out of here. I’ll be on time tomorrow, don’t worry about that.”

Gina put her coat on and walked out.

“Where do I find these people from?” Pamela asked herself.

The Sterling Mansion

Greg hugged Megan.

“So how long are you back for?” asked Greg.

“I don’t know, a few months at least, maybe more.” Megan replied.

“So you could be back for good then?”

“Maybe.”

Carrie walked into the room.

“So, how about we go for dinner?” she suggested.

“Sounds good to me,” Diane appeared in the doorway, “I’ll book us a table at Chez Antoine.”

Diane walked out of the room.

“Your plan isn't going to work, Carrie.” Diane thought.
