Opening Day

Opening Day 1996!

Buck fever had come and Brian Sobolewski, and myself drove to Meridian to hunt. Keir had invited friends from Jacksonville Clint and Tommy and they invited and surprised is with  2 or 3 more people. We have a large group hunting with us but Keir and I decide that since Brian is like the guest of honor, (having never hunted) we will put him in the Cotton Patch where I had missed a large buck last year the last time the field was hunted. I went to the TA stand and by sun up, I had heard several shots. The first morning, Brian had shot a large doe, I had shot a small button buck. When Keir went to get one guy off his stand on the power line, the guy was asleep with a deer under his stand. Keir shot the deer and about scared the guy to death.  Three deer the first morning was unbelievable and after spending considerable time, we cleaned the 3 deer and went back hunting. That evening, Tommy shot 2 spikes in the Oil Field, Clint shot a doe but I can’t remember where now. Brian missed an epic buck that afternoon but it still 6 deer in one day, the best day ever!
