Flight season: early June to late September.
Population: common, the greatest numbers can be found at the marshy north shore of Stoco Lake.
Often encountered foraging in fields a good distance from water.
Length: about 35 mm to 40 mm.
Distinguished from the Calico Pennant by its larger size and banded as opposed to spotted wings.

Tweed, Ontario, the Moira River, near the walking bridge and dam:
rock-bottomed river with fast flowing water, rapids and emergent rocks, but also quiet pools and backwaters.
The shoreline vegetation is mostly trees with a few small clearings supporting tall grasses and wildflowers.
