Flight season: late May to early September.
Population: not uncommon at most local marshes, Drag Lake is the best place to find this species.
Often encountered foraging in fields a good distance from water.
Length: about 30 mm.
Distinguished from the Halloween Pennant by its smaller size,
spotted as opposed to banded wings, and large basal patches on the hind wings.

North of Tweed, Ontario, a marsh on Upper Flinton Road, about 150 m east of Moores Road:
typical local marsh with Cattails, sedges and other emergent vegetation, various small willows, alders, dogwoods.

Drag Lake, about 7.25 km west of Tweed:
shallow water, rock-bottomed, appears to be somewhat calcareous, with marshy shorelines supporting rushes, sedges and Cattails.

East of Tweed, Ontario, near the intersection of Alexander Street and the trans-Canada Trail:
disturbed field supporting tall grasses and wildflowers, bordered by shrubs and trees with a sand and rock-bottomed creek to the east.
