Tsyklon-2 booster rocket is a converted Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). The Tsyklon two stage booster was converted from the SS-9 ballistic missile system. All Tsyklon space rockets were launched from Baikonur until 1977, now it is launched at Plesetsk. The vehicle is 35.5 meters long with a diameter of 3 meters. The total mass of the rocket is 182 tonnes. Tsyklon 2 is employed for the ocean surveillance program, Fractional Orbit Bombardment System (FOBS) and Satellite Interceptor programs. Tsyklon-3 is a three stage vehicle using Unsymmetrical Dimethyl Hydrazine (UDMH) as fuel and Nitrogen Tetroxide as oxidiser.
