Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace

89

Star Wars is back and it is back with all the magic just as powerful as it was 20 years ago.  No matter what flaws some people may see in this movie, it is overshadowed by the pure old fashioned fun of seeing Jedi Knights battle the bad guys.  I left the cinema brandishing a rolled up magazine like a light-sabre, trying to find out where I was supposed to sign up to become a Jedi.

The special effects were spectacular (as we would expect) and the even the human actors came through strongly.

If we must find negative points, then we could say that the accents of some of the aliens were a bit stereotyped towards corresponding Earth bound accents (e.g. Chinese sounding for the Trade Federation, Jamaican for the Gungans).

But I'd rather not quibble.  I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and that's all that matters.  Roll on, Episode Two!
