Rockstar Games Grand Theft Auto was around during the PS One days but not many people noticed it, atleast untill the third came out. Grand Theft Auto 3 sold millions of copies and its sequal sold even more. For anyone that has been living in a bomb shelter for the past 2 years GTA is a game where you can mostly do whatever you want, You can kill whoever you want, steal whatever you want and do the missions in whatever order you want. In GTA 3 you play as a nameless guy who is trying to slowly take over Liberty City also known as the Worst City In America.In Vice City you play as Tommy Vercetti a guy who just got done doing time for 16 years and is sent to Vice City to start taking over the South. Both games play just about the same except for slight gameplay differences. Both games stories unfold at a good pace and the mission variety is also very solid.
"Hmm You Look Different, Have You Done Something To Your Hair?"
The graphics were pretty average on the PS2 but were still passible, But on a console where every game looks pretty solid Rockstar knew it had to do something with this port. And luckaly they did, The graphics might not be mind blowing but they are still much better looking then its PS2 cousin. First thing you will notice, atleast if you have played the PS2 version, Is that the load times are much faster! The 3-4 minute loading screen that comes up when you first insert the game is now about 15-30 seconds. And the loading between parts of the city now lasts about 1/2 second. Next you will notice the game looks cleaner now, draw distance is longer, charactor models are better and the cars look much nicer. The cars have real-time reflections and the lights on the road also reflect off the vehicles. The cut scenes have also been put under the spotlight with lip synching and those blocks the charactors called hands before are now actuall hands with individual fingers. Overall the game looks much better.
"Listen To Those Tunes!"
The sound has always been great in the Grand Theft Auto universe and these 2 games are no different. The soundtrack in GTA 3 may not be to great to some music wise, But the Radio Stations wich are all talk will have you laughing along time. The voice acting is also great in both games. Vice City's music however is a landmark in the gaming universe! Vice City is set in the 80's so of course its only appropiate to have music From the 80's! Every song on the Vice City soundtrack is taken from the 80's, So in short, Its awesome. But if you dont like any of the music on either title just add your own. These two games support the xbox's Custom Soundtrack feature so you can listen to whatever you wish while running and gunning. And you can listen to everything on 5.1 surround sound if you have it.
"Im Gonna Make You An Offer You Cant Refuse"
So if your an Xbox owner who hasnt played these great titles or even if you own both PS2 and Xbox you should give yourself the opportunuty of playing them with better graphics,sound, and control. So when you see this Double Pack in stores with its shiny case and spiffy artwork do yourself a favor and purchase it.
