Uncle Sam Wants You! These posters use to get recruits into the war all of the time. Nowadays nobody wants to risk there life for stupid wars, Well now theres a fun safe way to participate in a war. When Battlefield 1942 came out it was released with much praise for its fast fun gameplay and seamless transition between being outside and then immediately inside a vehicle. Two Expansion Packs were released soon after and added more maps and vehicles while fixing some bugs. Heres a review for the whole Battlefield Trilogy

Battlefield 1942 allows for a average single player campaign at best. But if your buying Battlefield 1942 with the idea of not playing multiplayer then youll be bringing it back to the store fast. Battlefield was built with one idea in mind, Multiplayer. Online play over the Internet or Gamespy is great and it also has Lan capability. When you first begin you create a Login Name and then choose your connection speed and then just search for a game. Each level has two factions battling each other, US versus Japan, Germany versus Britain and so on. Thus each level has its own vehicles to choose from. For example US versus Japan maps consist of naval battles, land to air battles, land to sea and on foot fighting. Once you select a game it loads and when the map starts you select which side you wish to be, what you would like to be also and your spawn location. What type of soldier you wish to be is important. You can be a scout, Assault, Anti-Tank, Medic and an Engineer. A scout is a sniper, Assault is the main battle unit. Anti-Tank is obviously good at taking out tanks. Medic can heal himself and others and an Engineer can repair vehicles and mounted guns as well as laying down mines. All can use any vehicle you see, But Ill get into that later. Team work is essential in this game and all these units are important in the right hands. Spawn points are where you begin the map. If you die you can select any flag your currently controlling. Flags are the main mission in this game, Your team needs to control all the flags to make the other teams tickets go down(lives, points) If you die a ticket goes away on your team. If the flags are being controlled by a team the other teams tickets go down. Game ends when time runs out or all tickets are depleted from one team.

The environments are set in the South Pacific, North Africa, Eastern and Western Europe and Italy. There are six armys to fight as and each have there own weapons and vehicles. But mostly each are pretty even so it doesnt matter a lot which side you choose to play as. Vehicles play an integral part of the game. If you wish to succeed your gonna need to learn to pilot planes and learn the strengths and weakness of each vehicle. There are over 43 vehicles in the game and each one kicks ass. There are tanks, jeeps, ships, planes, transports and others. Each one is vital to success and teamwork is indispensable. If you decide to aid your troops with air support just walk over to a plane get in and take off. Controls are very simple in this game if your used to other FPSs on PC. But flying does take awhile to get used to. But in time youll be a flying ace. If you get shot down just eject before your plane explodes and on the way down use your parachute and take out your gun and start firing on your way down to Earth. If you decide to be a Tank get in and start rolling over people stupid enough to get in your way and start blowing things to hell. Just make sure you have a gunner on top or some infantry around or eventually an Anti-Tank will put your life to end quick. The game is easy to pick up and play but has enough strategic elements to satisfy both newbs and veterans.

Now on to Battlefield Expansion Packs. There are two, the first Battlefield 1942 Road To Rome and Battlefield 1942 Secret Weapons Of WWII.
