"Absolute Crap" [submitted by Vivi]

There are two words for this game. Absolute crap! Now lets see the list for the bad stuff:

If you are standing on a two story platform and you can see under you you will notice your shadow on the floor below you.
At random points the game will freeze.
Sometimes you fall through the floor.
At the begining you don't really get the story.
I played 5 minutes and I had to retry 6 times so you have to save about every time you open a door.
You have very bad controls like a mix between Resident Evil and Tomb Raider (Go figure).
Core can't spel any better tan i can.

I doubt this game is even worth a rent. But enough making it look bad (I don't have to do that, It does it by itself.) The only good things of the game are it sort of looks nice and it loads fast. The voices sounded good when they were said there lines right.

All in all, I rate this game a 1

Game-play:
As with all tomb raider games, the run, jump, swim, solve puzzle elements are still there, but with added features. They include; stealth, neck-breaking, hand to hand combat and army-crawling. Ms Croft also has drainpipe shimmying and other useful moves at her disposal. The gameplay is allot slower than past games though, which makes the whole thing so much more realistic. Even the jumping has been cut down a bit to add to the realism. Lara no longer starts with her trusty (but shit) dual 9mm pistols that never run out of ammo, which causes fear in the sense that you can run out of ammo. Thank god for the punching and kicking. Another major change in the game is that it has a more RPG sense to it. Whenever lara reaches a door, or an item she can pick-up a hand icon appears in the bottom left hand corner. When she gets a body upgrade (yet another change) she can do things she couldnt before, thus reaching areas previously inaccessible.

Graphics:
The angel of darkness has one major drawback. As we are in the graphics section of the review, its pretty obvious what that is. The graphics arent up to scratch bearing in mind how long Core have been working on this title. There are no fingernails on Laras hands, even in the CGIs! This is noticeable as soon as you get into the game, which for me, was rather upsetting. Mistakes are made throughout the game including the chat with the one time looker near the beginning of the game (the signs are brown in the cutscene, yet blue in-game).

Sound:
The sound of the rain splattering on the floor whilst being chased down an alley by a pack of dogs was a great part of the game. Even the sound of Lara dying was pretty impressive (though frustrating). The sounds play a vital part in any game, and Core have made every sound make it look as though the characters are saying them. Its the complete opposite of that program Monkey. I only have one complaint about the sound and that is the music makes me scared in the right places, which is good, Right?

Lifespan:
With multiple endings, you can play this a few times so, itll keep you busy until the next game you want. There are many ways to solve each puzzle and different questions to different people will lead you different places. This game has so much to offer including the making of and other extras. If this does not satisfy you for even a month, then theres no pleasing you sir. Admittedly, there are a few levels that are so easy and quick, theyre over in a matter of minutes, but thats why they added the multiple endings, isnt it?

Overall: Gameplay: 9/10 Graphics: 8/10 Sound: 8/10 Life span: 9/10
Total: 9/10
