An old WAD from the Maximum files. No text file, as usual. Oh well. Based on its name and the fact that it has the entry D_E2M1, Im guessing its a Doom 2 conversion of a Doom 1 WAD. Sadly, it sucks. Bad and random level design, random texturing, bad action. Theres one area in the west thats kinda nice, but thats about it. 2/5

Two short, fun levels. The first is randomly textured, the second is in that brown metal base theme, and both have some tough secrets. Action is good. Architecture is pretty good. 3.5/5

Matrix (01Matrix.wad)
Ben Gates June 27, 1995
A medium-sized, pretty fun level. Texturing is mainly E1, with some gray and demonic themes and a little Doom 2 texturing thrown in. Architecture is alright. 3.5/5

Afterlife (0afterlf.wad)
Sphagne March 9, 2001
This level starts off in a graveyard, but youll go through some church-ish places, a river of blood, and a dock. Architecture is alright. The main problem is the difficulty. Theres a lot of chaingun snipers that are too far away for you to hear, and unless youre searching for them you wont see them either. And of course, since the chaingunners individual bullets dont hurt that much, theyll prick away until you check you health and realize youre at 20%. Then youll spend the rest of the level constantly reloading (moving along at a snails pace as a result) and wishing there was more freaking health. Oh, and theres not nearly enough ammo either. Overall, a somewhat interesting level thats waaaaaayyyy unbalanced. 3/5

Avenger (0Avenger.wad)
Sphagne March 9, 2001
This psuedo-city level is pretty fun. It has almost non-stop action in the beginning, and its pretty big to boot. Texturing is that light brown brick initially, but starts to tangent in the side areas. Unfortunately, it suffers from I have no idea what the fuck Im supposed to do syndrome, so badly that I couldnt finish it. Pity. Still, if you dont mind not actually being able to finish it, you might want to check it out. 3/5

Blood Runners (0bloodr.wad)
Sphagne November 17, 2000
An average Doom 2 level. Architecture is alright. Prominent feature is a blood river, but theres lots of tangents off that. Action is okay. Theres a nice new midgrate-ish texture, and a pretty nice sky texture, and the new music is cool (if ill-fitting). 3/5

Cavemen (0cavemen.wad)
Sphagne November 17, 2000
This large level takes place in a beige cavern of sorts, with the occasional building and some marble towards the end. Action is good, and theres some nice architecture at points. The new sky from Xeno11 is great, and pretty fitting. Just a little hint, make sure all the Mancubi die. All of these levels by Sphagne say that GL ports cause problems, but in the previous three, it didnt seem like they would, and I ran this in jDoom with no problems at all. So hes probably wrong. 4/5

Death Cycle (0dcycle.wad)
Sphagne April 23, 2001
This is a pretty fun, compact level. (Though it still takes a while to beat.) I honestly cant remember the texturing scheme, so it must have been random. Its quite tough, and its somewhat open-ended design can make it quite tougher. Pretty fun overall. It ran fine in jDoom. 3.5/5

Hell Harbour (0HHarbr.wad)
Sphagne November 17, 2000
Ran fine in jDoom. This level takes place in a harbor of sorts. After a beginning area which I guess is supposed to be a ship, you get dumped out into the middle of a blood sea, with a square dry area dead ahead. Inside is a bunch of crates and other side areas. Its rather compact, and took me about an hour to complete. Texturing is more or less random. Action is pretty good, though a lot of the guns are pseudo-secrets/not obvious, and the SSG is all the way at the end. There was a somewhat big secret I never did figure out how to get. The new music is On the Run (D_E1M6); always a good decision. The E3 sky is included as well. Overall, pretty fun, but nothing special. 3.5/5

This is a rather small level that takes random texturing to places its never been before. Aside from that theres nothing flagrantly wrong with it, so if youre really bored give it a whirl. 3/5

The Living End. (0LivEnd.wad)
Sphagne April 23, 2001
Ran fine in jDoom. This level takes around a chasm and the buildings around it. Took me about an hour to complete. Texturing is somewhat random. Action is good and a bit tough, with some serious crossfire from enemies across the chasm. If the Cyberdemon falls asleep somehow (as he did on my run through) be sure to shoot him and wake him up for challenges sake. :P  Theres also a somewhat interesting Cybie fight towards the end; hes stuck on an elevator that bottoms out up top and keeps on going up and down. Makes it quite hard to hit him . .. but hard for him to hit you as well. The music is Demons on the Prey (D_E1M7 and one in every other episode too :D), and the new sky is from E2. Pretty fun overall. 3.5/5

Mothership (0MShip.wad)
Sphagne March 9, 2001
Ran fine in jDoom. This WAD kinda follows the spaceship idea. Its cramped, like you might expect a spaceship to feel, but texturing wanders a bit. There are however outside-ish areas which, through the help of the new sky, make it feel more spacey. And the last area is absolutely awesome. Action is good, rather tough, with excellent use of a Cyberdemon. Unfortunately theres not enough health, and theres j u s t enough ammo. Im guessing the only way to get max kills is to find the secrets. (I, as usual, did not.) The new music is cool but too soft. Overall though, this WAD is pretty damn good. Try it. 4/5

A bunch of small, not particularly fun or challenging levels. Pass. 2/5
