  Lieutenant N. Y. L. Welman, 1st Battalion Middlesex Regt.
                                               Awarded D.S.O.
For gallant conduct at La Boutillerie on 30th October whilst commanding his platoon under trying circumstances.
   The heaviest attack was launched against his Platoon - eleven of the enemy were found dead on his parapet and two other in front - he himself counted for three.

   The foregoing ia a copy of the War Office document conveying the announcement that the Distinguished Service Order has been conferred upon Lieutenant Noel Yoon Loftus Welman, a grandson of the late John F. burrows and Mrs. Burrows, of Seaforth, Somerset, Bermuda. He belongs to the 1st Battalion of the (Duke of Cambridge's Own) Middlesex Reiment.
