BACK THE ROYAL GAZETTE, WINTER 1914-1915. B.V.R.C. CONTINGENT LIST OF VOLUNTEERS FOR THE FRONT TRAINING IN WARWICK CAMP March Through Hamilton A FEW MORE NEEDED FOR COMPANY By kind permission of His Excellency the Governor, Lieut.-General Sir G.M/ Bullock, K.C.B., we take pleasure in publishing the first list of the names of the Bermuda Volunteer Rifle Corps who have been volunteered and accepted for service at the front. The young men answered to the appeal of Earl Kitchener for men to serve in the ranks and to uphold the honour and integrity of the Empire. It is pleasing to record that so many of the most promising manhood of this little Colony have answered the appeal so readily and are working with such energy to render themselves efficient in every respect. Bermuda has reason to be proud of her young volunteers for the front. The people of Hamilton had an opportunity of having a look at them on Saturday when they paraded on the Richmond Cricket Field. They were under full kit except for their coats, and marched from the parade to Warwick Camp in 75 minutes- good going in the rain and each man carrying at least 60 pounds on his shoulders. A finer body of young fellows does not march under the folds of the Union Jack. The blank lines at the end of this list represent the number still wanting to form a complete company. R. J.
