Glacial State Park

It was an Open House for all state parks in Minnesota, so it was free on it's first opening (Sunday, June 1st of 2008) day for the summer. Unfortunately, we weren't able to catch anything (too hot-around 4-5:30p)!

  • "is a Minnesota state park approximately five miles south of Starbuck. It was founded in 1963 to preserve some of the remaining rolling prairie which previously covered much of the state. Located in the Leaf Mountains, the park and the area around it contains many glacial landforms created by the Wisconsonian glaciation."

    Hobo Park

After getting a "lite supper" at the DQ, we tried a better luck in catching fish at Hobo Park (6p-8:30pm)..

We ended up catching past our maximum limit of "bass" (6 each), which we would end up throwing the "smallest" fishes everytime we catched a "big one" (9"-12" + or 2lbs). We even caught other types of fishes (Sunnies and Blue Gill), but they were not worth keeping because of the smallness (need to catch "a lot" to get something "meaty" to worth eating a "meal")

In addition to the items on display in the front of the store, is an extensive collection packed away in the back of the coffee shop still looking for a permanent place to call home.
While the collection has garnered much discussion by all those who have stopped at Dave's Place over the years, the local chatter was magnified last week when "On the Road" host Jason Davis stopped by Dave's Place to get a first-hand look at the collection. ...
In addition to Vee and his son's, Nichtern invited a few Minnewaska Area High School students who joined in the celebration last Friday. The group performed a dance dressed in late 1950's attire to one of Vee's hit songs "Rubber Ball,"
Though no air date has been scheduled for the "On the Road" episode featuring Dave's Place, Nichtern said he was told the episode is tentatively scheduled to air sometime in March."
