Goldfield Hotel
Goldfield, Nevada
The population of Goldfield increased more rapidly than did the rooming accommodations available at the time (over 20,000 people by 1905). The Goldfield Gossip, in its April 20,1907 issue, noted that not over 500 rooms were avilable to the public. The news article futher mentioned that there were then only four completed hotels in Goldfield: The Esmeralda, the Brown Place, the St. Nicholas, and the Watson. Not mentioned was the Merchant Hotel in Columbia, a mile northerly of Goldfield's Bussiness section. This was one of the first hotels in the area, having been constructed during 1904.

The year saw three modern hotels completed: The Grimshaw, the Casy, and the Hotel Nevada, took place at the northwest corner of Hall and Columbia in 1907.

By April 1907 the hotel structure, constructed of steel, stone, and brick, was being erected by the Goldfield Realty Company, at the corner of Crook and Columbia. The building was planned to have four stories, 152 bedrooms and 42 suites. The cost of the Hotel was aprox. $300,000.

The Hotel was dedicated January 15, 1908. The hotel has been closed now for about 50 years.

The Hotel was bought at auction in 2003 for $365,000.
