*ULLASAM:is the usual triangular love story.Mageshwari looks horrible
and if the directors(Jeddi-Jerry) had chosen some other heroine then
this film would have run atleast for a 100 days.Ajith is the son of
a bus conductor(SPB) but is brought up by a dada,Raghuvaran.
Raghuvaran's son,Vikram is brought up by SPB.Vikram falls in love
with Mageshwari but she is in love with Ajith.Finally Vikram does the
"thyagam" part and Ajith unites with Mageshwari.Some excellent music
by Karthik Raja and Photography by Jeeva saves the otherwise boring
film.yet another flop for ABCL.
*LOVE TODAY:yet another hit for Vijay.an excellent story,treated well
by new director Balasekaran.Vijay is the son of a doctor,Raghuvaran.
he is in love with Suvalakshmi.Suva is a silent girl and she ignores
Vijay.her only aim is to get state rank in her studies.Vijay tries
to express his love in many ways but Suva is not impressed.Finally
when Suva accepts Vijay's love,Vijay.......(i dont want to break the
Climax-r u happy ramya?).the climax is the reason for the films
success.Manthra,Karan and Rajan.P.Dev(he shines in his role as Siva's
father) are also in the caste.music is by Debutant Shiva(only 2 songs
r good).Dont miss this movie.
*SISHYA:the movie is an average hit.Some politicians try to drag,
Roshini (Nagma's sister),daughter of an ex-prime minister into
politics.she runs away from delhi and comes to chennai.here she falls
in love with Karthik.just before the interval,CBI officers find her
and take her back to delhi.Karthik goes to delhi and after many
hurdles they unite.director Chelva has adapted the story line from
the recent Priyanka Gandhi love affair.excellent comedy by Karthik,
Goundamani and Manivannan combination.
*PISTHA:Karthik must be in a lucky phase.the film is a hit.it is a
full length comedy film by director K.S.Ravikumar.by telling the
story,i dont want to spoil the humor in this film.the cast include
Nagma,Mouli and Manivannan.the film is worth watching.
*PAASAMULLA PANDIYAREY:Rajkiran says goodbye to vetti and "kodu potta
underwear".he looks funny in pants.Rajkiran is a loyal servant
(asusual) to a rich family.loves Meena.Meena dies.fights villain to
save the wealth of the family.marries Roja,the rich woman's daughter.
it is a pity that director T.P.Gajendran has chosen this story while
making a re-entry after many years.Deva's music as usual-kadhula
panju.the film is a sure flop.
*PONGALO PONGAL:(review by my friend Prakash)
Padaththukku Pongalo PongaL-nu title vechchadhukku Badhila "Kumbalo
Kumbal" appadinu vechchu irukkalam. Ekkachakkama artists.. Typical
V.Sekar padam.Indha AaLu vazhakkam pola yedharththama padatha
arambichchu Cinematica mudichuttar.Sangeetha - Vingnesh, Charliee -
Indhu (Kadhal Kottai, Bharathi Kannama),Vadivel - Kovai Sarala,Chinni
Jayanth (No jodi), Vivek-Perutheriyadha actress.Velai illadha indha 5
pattathari iLLaingargaL pal panNnNai vechchu eppadi munnuku varanga
appadigaradhuthan indha padam. Idhula vara female artists-kku scope-a
illai.A flop movie for V.Sekar after many hits in a row.
*ADIMAI SANGILI:(again Prakash's review)
Niraiya suspence-soda padam arambikkudhu.. Review padichadhala enna
kadhainu theriyudhu. Arjun as usual. Roja & Ramba did their routine
work.. I mean kavarchiya kattitu poranga. Roja padathoda second half-
lathan varanga. Ramba kadaisee 10 to 15 nimisham Pudavai-laye
varanga... AnEgama idhu Gunniess-la varumnu Ninaikiren:):):)
Anand Raj mottai pottukiitu vara villian. Padathula padu super Malai
pradhesathila pottirukkira Settings & Panner Selvathoda Camera..
Enakku kidaicha print romba sumar print. Aana adhulaiye Camara effect
therijudhu.Padatha erkane partha madhiri irukku. Indha padathilaiyum
Gumbal adhigam.Nambiyar,Visu,Charliee,Chini Jayanth,Vadivel,pudhusa
additional Villian,Radha Ravi, Jai Ganesh ippadi Niraiya per.
Garam Masala...Super Flop.
*DEVADHAI:the first 35 minutes of the movie is tooooo good.the film
starts in the 13th century.where Nasser is a notorious emperor who
keeps killing people and conquering kingdoms.he falls in love with a
princess Keerthi Reddy.when Keerthi refuses Nasser's love,he dies of
humiliation.the film involves some excellent art direction,never
seen before in tamil cinema (art director Marudhu is sure to win a
National Award).Illayaraja has done a tremendous job in this film(he
has used more than a 100 violins for the BGM)and the DTS music is
upto Hollywood standards.after the first half hour,the story moves
to the present times and from then the movie is a real bore.Vineeth
falls in love with a rich girl,Keerthi.they come to their native
village for their marriage.here Nasser is waiting for them(for nearly
500 years-Kadhula Poo Kuudai).Nasser tries to marry Keerthi,Vineeth
fights with Nasser and wins him.i suggest everyone to watch the first
30 minutes of the movie without fail(athuku mella paatha,pin
vilaivugalukku nan poruppu illai).
*SURYAVAMSAM:a must watch movie from Vikraman.this film was also
released on the 27th June along with DEVADHAI.Sarathkumar hates his
youngest son (athuvum Sarath) bcos he is not educated.how the younger
Sarathkumar wins the heart of his father is the story of the film.the
songs by S.A.Rajkumar are melodious.the film is a clean movie with
comedy scenes throughout.Manivannan's comedy in this movie is one of
his best ones.Dont miss this movie.
*ONCE MORE:Vijay's father dies in an air crash.to avoid a crisis he
asks Sivaji to act as his father.Anju Arvind falls in love with
Vijay and commits suicide when he refuses to accept her love.Simran
is Anju's sister,she wants to take revenge on Vijay but soon she
understands that he has got nothing to do with her sister's death.
Vijay and Sivaji develop affection towards each other.Vijay helps
Sivaji and Saroja Devi(Sivaji's wife) unite.Sivaji helps Vijay to
marry Simran.an ordinary story but well treated by director
S.A.Chandrashekar(esp. in the B/W scenes from IRUVAR ULLAM).Vijay has
acted well.Simran exposes her talents too!! Manivannan as usual
kalakkal.Deva adaki vasichi irukkar.with a right mixture of comedy,
senti,fights,glamour...this film is an entertaining masala.the film
is releasing on july 4th.
