"RADIANT DARK"
- 29 Designs on Darkness & Luxury -
An Exhibition of work by Matt Agostinis & Joel Harrison-Off, Joy Charbonneau, Andrea Chin & Amrita Takhar, Connie Chisholm Studio, Coe & Waito-Covello/Reesor, Todo Falkowsky, James Fowler, Pascale Girardin, Jennifer Graham, Bev Hisey, Hoodoos, Claire Ironside, Dieter Janssen, Loyal Loot Collective, Mazzie Design & Kelly Palmer, Stuart McQuarrie, molo Katheine Morley, Gailan Ngan, Andrew Ooi, Propeller Design, Rollout, Tamara Rushlow, Jonathan Sabine, Orest Tataryn, Tsunami Glassworks and Andree Weisman.

First exhibited in January this year in Toronto , Radiant Dark surveys the Canadian zeitgeist with new works from artists, architects, industrial designers and craftspeople. Themes of darkness and luxury are wrought via objects that speak to a desire for valuable experience and meaning, over wealth or exclusivity. Luxury is viewed through the lenses of pattern, decoration, tradition and materials. The objects of Radiant Dark combine texture, quality and attention to detail that lend aesthetic richness. Natural resources and their increasing luxury lead to some brooding thoughts with a light touch. Radiant Dark is a melding of thoughtful expression and modern Canadian design practice.

This Exibition is co-produced with MADE Design 867 Dundas St., W., Toronto.

"Days of the Dead "
Since ancient times ceramics have occupied an integral place in Mexican ritual practice. Day of the Dead is the signal fiesta celebrated today in honor of ancestors, families and the cycle of life. Through ceramics and other forms of artistic expression, including photography, video and artists working in the exhibition space, we will illustrate the rich, inventive, emotional and often humorous images and objects dedicated to this celebration.

"Conserve/Condemn"
An Exhibition of original photography by Alan Joson.
Ancient ruins and archaeological excavations are common sights in Greece. However, in contrast to this, one is aware of a melancholic decay that exists among the narrowest alleyways and neglected facades: outmoded architectural styles and forgotten art forms mingle with urban graffiti and other modernities. Is it evidence of an emerging art form, symbolic of a marriage of ancient architecture and a contemporary aesthetic? Urban decay or urban revitalization?

"Science Planning Expulsion"
- The National Socialist General Plan For The East -

The General Plan for the East (GPO) embodied the Nazi vision for a radical reorganization – racial, spatial, demographic, settlement patterns – of Eastern Europe. The reorganization would see the expulsion (“resettlement”) to the east of “culturally and racially inferior” populations, the remaking of the east European landscape through the construction of prototypical Germanized villages, and the creation of an effective agrarian society, with decentralized industry and settlement structures. Presented to Heinrich Himmler in July of 1941, the GPO was arguably the most far-reaching and violent experiment in the use of the tools of scientific planning to re-shape society.
