Born in Pincourt, Quebec in 1969, Anne-Marie C. Kornachuk completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Concordia University in Montreal (1993). Former President of the Ontario Society of Artists, Anne-Marie has exhibited her work throughout Canada and USA. Her works, paintings about moments of quiet struggle, are beautifully executed. "I use figurative gestures as descriptions of 'quiet struggles'. In my experience, life offers a continual series of pressures, of varying magnitude, that need to be managed in some way. It is the way these moments are managed that I find most fascinating." * Anne-Marie Kornachuk * & "22 Bronze Works" An Exhibition of bronze by Donald Liardi. Few have succeeded in depicting the joyous abandonment of the human spirit, combined with a total defiance of gravity. Even when seemingly in repose, his animals resonate; barely containing their energy. "I choose my subjects, adapt my technique, and select my material with one, all-embracing purpose in mind. That is to celebrate the joy of life in exuberant motion . What gives life to my work is the need to savour an exquisite moment, then to lose oneself, to try to make that moment stand still in time. Don Russell came to Ontario from a childhood in Newfoundland that included camping in snow drifts as high as he was while Amir Shingray came to Ontario from eastern Sudan where snow was almost beyond imagination. Each in his own way has studied the (surprisingly modest) place of snowscapes in both the history of Canadian painting and in contemporary painting, and learned from innovators from Franz Johnson to Jean-Paul Lemieux to David Milne to Peter Doig.
