« Provence People 1951-1961 »

An Exhibition of photographs from the south of France with the photograph Toni Harting.

“In the hearts of millions of people, young and old from all over the world, the name Provence holds a special place, full of affection and fascination. From 1951 to 1966, I spent many summers in Provence as a strolling musician. During these years, I made thousands of black-and-white photographs of numerous colourful characters from many walks of life. I observed these people while they lived their lives on the streets and the beaches, in the bars and at the bullfights and the pétanque fields, when embracing each other or sleeping in the heat of the day, just being themselves. Working in the photographic perspective called humanistic reportage, I put together a wide-ranging collection of candid, revealing portraits that are an original, joyous, thought-provoking, but above all honest historical documentary record of the lively spirit of those times. With these pictures I celebrate the enchanting heart of the land of glorious light and present a loving look at the people of captivating Provence, the playground of Southern France.” Toni Harting Texts by Daniel Soha, a writer and translator originally from Provence, will accompany the photos.

"Out of Africa"

- From the forests and highlands we come, we come -
(Out of Africa by Karen Blixen).

An Exhibition of recent paintings by Rosa Guasch.

If every moment of our lives turns into memory, Rosa's ultimate aim is to enrich memory with permanence, and these recent paintings are the culmination of her travels across Africa during the summers of 2006 and 2007. Using exalted and contrasting colors, through the abstract use of stains and agile strokes, Rosa has created compositions in which colors and forms originate from her perceived reality; and figurative scenes of African tribes, landscapes, shorelines, or other moments that emotionally moved her through the journey. .
