On
September 9, 2007, the new Lasallian Doctors together with more
than 1,700 new doctors from all over the country marched their way to
the Phipippine International Convention Center (PICC) to take their
oath as newly registered physicians. The Lasallian doctors present
were Dr. Radcibel Caram, Dr. Gerard Paul Espeleta, Dr. Enrique
Grajales, Dr. Chad Bryan Hilado, Dr. Marc Japitana, Dr. Richard
Kochoa, Dr. Reuben Montano, Dr. Clarisa Uy-Patrimonio, Dr. Emmanuel
Magalona, Dr. Joyce Pedreso, and Dr. Celna Mae Tejare.
The three-hour ceremony started with a doxology and the national
anthem lead by the opera singers, followed by a opening remarks by the
chairman of the board of medicine, Dr. Miguel Noche.
Onofre Pagsanhan, M.A., PhD uttered a very inspiring and heart-warming
speech for the new doctors. In his speech, this 80-year old doctor
repeatedly asked the new physicians, "A great power was been given
onto your hands, what are you going to do about it?" The speaker also
shared how far his wisdom has brought him up from a once poor boy with
a toiletless home to a successful educator and artistic director of
the Ateneo de Manila. He also added, that what he is right now is
because of what he has gone through in the past. His 45-minute
speech was cut after the chairman of the board of medicine has sent
him a note that he only have 5 more minutes to finish his speech, but
the audience kept on asking for more!
The oath of physician was led by Dr. Miguel Noce while the oath of
Hippocrates and the oath of the membership to the Philippine Medical
Association were led by Dr. Florentino Noble and Dr. Jose Sabili,
respectively. The recognition of the topnotchers also followed.
The new Lasallian doctors who were once considered underdogs as far as
medical schools are concerend, have made the University of St. La
Salle proud by ranking 12th nationwide out of 37 medical schools. |
