April 9,
2006, the pioneers of the University of St. La Salle
College of Medicine faced their success as they
finally marched as the first graduates of the said
college. Twenty four (out of the 45) young doctors
were said to have passed all the requirements set
forth by the college. Present in the said ceremony
were their professors who were also with them for
four years and have sacrificed most of their time in
molding these once hopefuls into a good batch of
physicians.
Ma.
Clarissa Uy-Patrimonio, the class valedictorian,
humbly thanked all those who have been part of their
victory during her valedictory speech. She also
added that the class could not promise a 100%
passing percentage during the boards but she assured
everyone that the batch would try their best in
God’s faith in taking the board exams. She also
dared her fellow pioneers to take the challenge in
the medical world and be the best christian doctors
that they can be.
Bro.
Armin Luistro, FSC, the present president of the De
La Salle University-Manila and De la Salle
Philippines, also gave a very inspiring message to
the graduates. In his speech, he told the story of
a young but brave negrense doctor who defy all odds
just to be a part of the medical team who went to
help those victims of one of the greatest
catastrophic events in southeast asia. He also
challenged the pioneers to be brave enough in facing
the challenges in the medical realm and, just like
the said negrense doctor, have the big heart in
serving especially those who are less fortunate.
This might indeed the
greatest victory a medical student could ever have.
However, more challenges are still to come – the
board exams, the residency training and the like are
still waiting to be hurdled on their way to the top.
So to all graduates, congratulations and Godspeed,
COLLEAGUES.
