| Levan Kobiashvili began his career at Metalurgi Rustavi playing there for one season before signing for Dinamo Tbilisi. Kobiashvili immediatly secured a place in the Dinamo team and after two sucessful seasons with Dinamo he moved on loan to Russian side Alania Vladikavkaz. After the loan was finished Kobiashvili returned to Dinamo Tbilisi before being bought by German side Freiburg. Kobiashvili went on to establish himself as one of the best left sided midfielders in the Bundesliga. The 2000/01 was Kobiashvili's best season at Freiburg as he helped them to finish 6th in the league and gain a UEFA Cup place. The following season Freiburg had a nightmare and were relegated to the second Bundesliga. Surprisingly Kobiashvili stayed at Freiburg for a season in the second division. Kobiashvili has established himself as an indespensible player for the National Team and it was no surprise when he announced he had signed a 3 year contract with Schalke where he will play from next season. |
