Cha robh i a-riamh làidir na corp is cha dèanadh i obair-fearainn, ged a dhèanadh i obair-taighe math gu leòr. William (son of) Donald Mackenzie (William Mackenzie) - from the internet She was never strong in her body and she would not do land work, though she would perform housework well enough làidir na corp = strong in her body = physically strong cha dèanadh I = she would not do - but the imperfect / conditional often carries the idea of 'ability' (just as the Future Tense may do), so = she could not do obair-fearainn = work of land = land work / farm work ged = though - note that it followed by the relative particle 'a' dhèanadh I = she would do / she used to do - the conditional tense often has an imperfect meaning i.e used to obair-taighe - this clearly means 'housework' here, though, as you shall see, it may also mean 'homework'. math gu leòr. Note: math = good; gu math = well, but the 'gu' is dropped before 'gu leòr' = well enough / sufficiently well More next time.
