Here's how I've deciphered the lyrics to the "Sarah Song" from the Lantern Burn CD:

I came upon a charming girl, and Sarah is her name.
Her parents want a husband with riches, wealth and fame.
I haven't the wealth and riches and fame--they never come my way,
until I went to visit my love and through the keyhole say:

Chorus
Sarah, Sarah won't you come out tonight?
Sarah, Sarah, the moon is shining bright.
Put your hat and jacket on, tell your mother you won't be long,
and I'll be waiting for you 'round the corner.

Well Sarah is a girl like this, a girl you seldom see.
She loves me only for myself, and not for my money.
Every night at eight o'clock, she puts the needle away,
and standing just behind her door I through the keyhole say:

One night a little after eight I crept up to her door;
I whispered "Sarah darling" as I'd often done before.
"I'll give you Sarah", said a voice, as down I went aflop.
That's what her ma was saying as she kicked me 'round the shop!

The old one thought she'd killed me and I let her think so too.
As I lay there on the floor, I didn't know what to do.
At last she said, "He's alive not dead, my girl I'll let him wed."
So up I jumps says "Thank you ma'am" and to my girl I said:

repeat chorus twice.

Hope this helps. Good singing! Lisa.
