smo1.jpg (18271 bytes) This peaked cap is made of a very fine quality wool.  The three green bands of piping are made in the colour of the Gebirgsjäger. The visor is made of black lacquered 'Vulkan Fiber'.
smod1.jpg (34069 bytes) A detailed view of the insignia on the peaked cap. The eagle is of the standard type. The Edelweiss shown on the cap was worn on the peaked cap only by full members of a Gebirgsjäger unit. The oakleaf wreath is of a privately purchased manufacture and is hand embroidered.
The inside is lined with light tan artificial silk. The colours could differ depending on the manufacturer. At the top of the lining is a sewn on moisture shield made of celluloid. This cap was made by the firm of Erel. The sweatband is made of brown leather.
officer1.JPG (64120 bytes) This period picture shows an Officer wearing the Peaked cap for Officers. The piping on the cap shows darker than the coloured pictures, which may indicate this Officer belonged to a Pioneer unit.
