Combating the glare problem in GBAs
If you've been waiting for the anti-glare screen of a lifetime, or a "perfect light" which doesn't create glare on the screen, you'll be waiting for a long time. It turns out that the glare in a GBA actually comes from two sources: the protective screen cover, and the LCD screen itself.
The LCD is highly polished and like a mirror. It creates reflections just like the one caused by the protective screen cover. You don't normally notice this because the two reflections match up. But when you remove the protective screen, you can see it clearly: the LCD itself causes just as much glare as the protective screen cover.
What this means is simple: an anti-glare screen won't stop the glare problem. And any light that illuminates the screen will also cause reflections. It's just the nature of the reflective LCD used in GBAs.
