Soy Comments

These are all direct quotations from emails my dad sent me in regard to the potential for soy to be used in the dorm food. Here's a sample:

  • "You better be getting a soy burger tomorrow."
  • "...we had real lasagna here today, not that soysagna that they probably served you up in Gopherland."
  • "You don't expect them to admit that the use evil soy, do you? And are you sure you didn't put soy butter cups on your frozen yogurt?"
  • "And I am NOT lamenting or ruing about my college meals"
  • "We just got back from Woodman's and bought lot of non-soy foods. Did you say you had soycataloni for dinner. Sounds rather soyish."
  • "I'm glad that you enjoyed your soyball sub sandwich. Maybe tomorrow you'll get leftover soyballs mashed into soyloaf. I hear that if you cover soyloaf with layers of barbeque sauce it is almost unrecognizable as soyloaf. Under fluorescent lighting, it actually glows. Be careful not to drink Coke or Pepsi with the soyloaf, the chemical reaction in your stomach could be lethal. I heard of one person that burped after ingesting one swallow of soyloaf and Coke, and wiped out half of the cafeteria's hired help. It took a toxic waste team from the city's fire department to remove the rest of the soyloaf from his tray. Some of the Coke spilled onto the soyloaf and actually started eating through the tray and table. Not a pretty sight. Moral of the story: beware of the soyloaf...Sure, it wasn't a soyball sub, but we'll let you enjoy those...How about the molten remains of day old soyloaf?"
  • "Certainly, there had to have been soy sauce in the stir fry...I almost forgot to mention this..........if you bring left-over soyloaf back to your room for a late night snack, don't set it too close to the soda in the refrigerator. Its been known to eat clear through aluminum, and I already mentioned what happens when soyloaf meets coke or Pepsi. Studies were never completed on the effects of other sodas on soyloaf. All of the scientists conducting the studies suddenly disappeared after the Coke incident."
  • "Speaking of soy updates............You know that mashed up soyballs make a pretty nasty soyloaf. However, did you know that left over soyloaf (provided it doesn't react with the rest of your meal) can be mashed and formed into genuine Mc Soy nuggets? They may call them McChicken nuggets, but I know better."
