I read the various letters you printed from vegetarians, some of whom are rather vociferous in their opinions. As a retired biologist, I resent the fact that vegans feel it's OK to eat plants but not animals. Since I've never seen anyone stand up for the plants, I've decided to do so. Plants are wonderful living organisims and should be treated with the same respect we give animals.
Plants use carbon dioxide and give us the oxygen we need to survive. Their beauty and endurance fill our lives with joy. I only wish I had chlorophyll in my cells so I could produce my own food, but since I can't, I decided long ago to eat only animals. Long live the plant kingdom!
