Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiago?

ROUND ONE
All players begin with fifty points called "Crime Bucks". In round one, the players watch skits (often acted out by Rockapella, other regular performers, or celebrity guests) which contain clues to a geographic destination. They then try to choose the correct location from three alternatives displayed on a monitor beside the host. Each correct answer adds ten Crime Bucks to their scores.
Also in round one are two features in which players signal to answer quick, multiple-choice questions for five Crime Bucks each. One is a "Lightning Round" of three questions about a particular location. The other (beginning with season two) is "The Chase", in which the host reads clues about areas close to one another, as the monitor displays the areas and the multiple-choice alternatives.
Each contestant wagers an amount of Crime Bucks (0-50, in multiples of ten) on the final question of round one. That amount is added to the score for a right answer, subtracted from the score for a wrong answer. The two players with the highest scores move on to round two.
In case of a tie between the two lowest scores, the host reads a series of clues to the name of a state, usually a list of cities found on that state. The first player to signal and identify the state advances to round two.

ROUND TWO
The two remaining players face a giant game board with fifteen squares, representing fifteen diferent landmarks from the final destination in round one. Behind three of the fifteen squares are special squares marked "The Loot", "The Warrant" and "The Crook".
The player with the high score in round one begins by selecting one of the fifteen squares. If that player reveals any one of the three special squares, his or her turn continues. Anything else, and play passes to the other player. The object is to reveal the three special squares in the precise order listed above on a single turn. The first player to do that wins the game and advances to the bonus round.

BONUS ROUND
Each bonus game features a giant floor map of a region of the world (usually a continent) on which the final player must "catch" Carmen. As the host names a location on the map, the player runs to that spot to mark it with a large flashing beacon. The player must mark eight locations correctly in 45 seconds to win the grand prize, a trip for two anywhere in North America. (In the first season, the player had to identify seven locations in 45 seconds, and the trip was limited to the continental United States.)
