Tilling 2000, page three...
Tilling Society Gathering luncheon, the George Hotel dining room: 'Mr. Wyse' opened the program - in character, of course.  'Mrs. Wyse' invested the guest speaker with an OBB - the Order of Blue Birdie.  The speaker, Clement Crisp, ballet critic for the Financial Times, read two original stories - illustrating a possible Mapp and Lucia, in 'the hidden years' before their stories are told by Mr. Benson.
Some of the Tillingites of the day, including our 'Sophy Alingsby' (third photo).

Luncheon: Wine.  Melon with two sauces.  Pork cutlets, carrots, cauliflower, potatoes.  Cheesecake.

After lunch, many Tillingites visit Lamb House - as friends of Mr. Benson, wishing to see his memorabilia.  I spent the time visiting a couple of bookstores and stopping in the local butcher's, where I saw a jar of lemon curd in the window - ummmm.  I wish there had been room in my luggage for more jars.

Back to the George Hotel for tea.  Sat at a different table to converse with the two people I had met Friday night at the Mermaid Bar.  They were heading back to Manchester after tea and wouldn't be around for dinner at Ship Inn in the evening.  Then, back to my room for a rest and a change of clothes before dinner - which happened to be right across the street.  How convenient!
