The Greatest Video Games - Revisited [WCW/nWo Revenge]
Ennn.. Double Yoo... OOOOH!

This game has the best wrestling roster ever

While reviewing this game, I tried not to be biased. I tried not to, but I didn't do a very good job. I was a wrestling fan. I loved the WCW at about this time. That said, this is not the greatest game ever, but it if you are a wrestling fan this game is a must have. A MUST HAVE, I TELL YOU!

There are a fair amount of different modes to keep the game fresh. There is a create-a-wrestler mode, tons of title belt and tournaments for said belts, multi-player options, and Battle Royals. This game is definitely fun multi-player, no question. But I would say that it would retain its entertainment value in one player mode only if you are a wrestling fan.

The greatest thing in WCW/nWo Revenge is that it came at THE perfect moment in time. When the game was made, all the wrestling greats were still active; Hogan, Savage, Piper, Hart, Mr. Perfect, DDP, Nash, Hall, Sting (although inexplicably and highly regretably WCW's true superstar "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair does not make an appearance)... and the up-and-coming stars like Booker T, Scott Stiener, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, The Big Show etc. etc. Some of the most entertaining tag teams can also be formed with this game, like the Harlem Heat, the Stiener Brothers, the Faces of Fear, the Mega Powers, the Hart Foundation (My personal favorite), and many others. Not only does it include those greats, but it also captured the moment with the sensational Bill Goldberg, and the greatest storyline in wrestling history: THE nWo!!!

This game has a spectacular amount of wrestlers (50 in all I believe), and this is what gives the game lasting value. With this game you can forget how dissapointing and unentertaining wrestling is today. You can have a WWF vs. WCW fued (since nearly all of the WWF's stars now are former WCWers). You can have a young verses old fued (what would have happened if Nash, Hogan et al. hadn't kept Jericho and Benoit down?). You can relive historical battles (Hogan vs. Savage: Wrestlemania V). See who would have won in the first ever Hulk Hogan vs. Bret Hart match. But most importantly, you can pretty much create a stable of your all-time favorite wrestlers (mine would be the Hart Foundation, Mr. Perfect with manager Rick Rude (R.I.P.), Scott Steiner, Scott Hall, Rowdy Roddy, and DDP).

WCW/nWo Revenge
Graphics: 6.5
This game came along before the new style of graphics became more... enhanced. Heads and arms sometime seem detatched. The opponent's feet sometimes look like they are sticking through another's torso, etc. etc. Fairly poor graphics.
Playability: 8.5
Straying from the typical wrestling-game staple of smashing on buttons really fast to execute moves, this is more of a timing game (a highly advantageous idea, in my opinion). Having said that, it does take a few minutes of intense anger and frusteration to master the controls. Final score 10 minus 1.5 for the anger and frusteration....= 8.5
Fun Factor: 8.5
If you are not a wrestling fan then rate this game a 5.5, however if you enjoyed wrestling in and around the nWo era, give this game an eight-and-a-half. Any game that includes Jim 'the Anvil' Niedhart is tops in my book, and any game with the astounding variety of past, present, and future star wrestlers like this one has to be considered one of the greatest games ever.
