The Greatest Video Games - Revisited [Warcraft II]
Ready to Serve, My Lord

I've Got a Flying Machine!

Basically, this game is just remembered as the predecessor to Starcraft and Warcraft III. Warcraft is to Starcraft as Tecmo Bowl was to Tecmo Super Bowl. Although Warcraft II is still better than 98% of video games out there, it is now totally overshadowed by its better offsprings. Warcraft II is Command and Conquer or Starcraft in a mid-evil setting. Instead of SCV's or Mine Trucks, you have Peasants. Instead of tanks: footmen.

The goal is the same though, to beat your opponent right off the map. The game has two different races to choose from: humans and orcs, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, as well as their own storyline.

Warcraft II
Graphics: 7
The characters seem slightly larger in Warcraft then in Starcraft, but they still need to be quite small to fit the gigantic number of units involved in larger battles. The characters maps are nonetheless fairly detailed and colorful.
Playability: 9
This game requires a whole lot of intense point and click action. Memorizing the hot keys makes things run a whole lot more smoothly, however it gets very frustrating at times when during a frantic battle you have to be micromanaging your units, but really there are no serious complaints.
Fun Factor: 9
The game is challenging in the various one player options, however like most great games it shines in two player mode. The game almost never loses its entertainment value as it can be played almost endlessly with another.
