PULL!!
This game was released right about the time of the 1988 Summer Olympics. Of course this was a marketing ploy to cash in on the popularity of the summer games. This series was also successful in popularizing event games. The events included in this game are swimming, triple jump, pole vault, diving, archery, triple jump, hurdles, arm wrestling, canoeing, the hammer throw, taekwondo, and my personal favorite, clay pigeon shooting.
| | Track and Field II | Graphics: 4.5 The graphics arent that bad for a Nintendo game. Youll see a good share of weird things going on with the animation like faces turning black when they are trying to look upset and stuff but this isnt too uncommon for old-school Nintendo. The grunting and looks of determination during the arm wrestling event is purely classic. |
Playability: 3
Many of the events in this game are hardly playable or they will be until your hands are so sore you cant hold the controller any longer. There is way too much button mashing in this game. I refuse to participate in swimming or triple jump because they are impossible without turbo controllers. I had a friend who used to use a spoon on the swimming event and could win it but lets be seriouswhere am I gonna find a spoon? |
Fun Factor: 3 Overall this game is pretty bad but some events are pretty fun. Clay Pigeon shooting, hurdles, diving, and archery are all pretty fun. The problem with these event games is each event is only appealing for a limited amount of time and then the game gets old. |
