Mosi Tatapu!
Ok. I am a little biased. I love this game so much I have two or more websites dedicated to it. One about my records and one about my online team. This is the greatest football game ever, undeniably, and arguably the best game ever period. I've played this game for over a decade and love it now more than ever. It gets funner with every year. One thing that really makes it a unique piece of work is the interesting view of NFL football that the Japaneese programmers had. There are many little quirks that are in the game that have become to be known as 'Tecmoisms.' These little quirks only add to the flavor though, and have led to a cult following of this game. For further review, check out what I wrote about it here.
| | Tecmo Super Bowl | Graphics: 4.5 This game had great cut-scenes at the time, and the graphics would have been rated a 10 back in '91. This is not '91 though. The graphics are hard to knock though, they may not be the prettiest but they give you that early '90's 'I'm a kid again' feel, and therefore they will always have a place in the hearts of 20-something gamers. |
Playability: 10
This game is spectacularly simple. There are 8 different plays to choose from, four running and four passing. There is no Madden-type confusion or 45 second delay between plays. Games can be finished in 15 minutes, and it is a riot in two player mode. There are many different factors that the players do not control that can affect the outcome of the game, such as fumbling, and these factors always make any two-player game interesting. |
Fun Factor: 10 The game retains its replayability, as after over a a decade of playing this game I still lose to the CPU once in a blue moon. I could play this game forever and never get sick of it. When I die, I'm not going to say, "I wish I spent more time with my kids," or, "I wish I was a better family man." I'm gonna say, "NO! I still have more Tecmo to play! Don't take me yet God!" |
