With a name like Peppy he must have gotten picked on
This is the sequel to the popular SNES shooter, Star Fox. Star Fox and a few other random animal fighter pilots need to save the universe from some evil monkey dude. Im not sure, but I think the reason they chose monkeys as the enemy is the game was actually developed by a bunch of racist Japs. They felt this was a sneaky way to throw in their racist propaganda.either that or they are just ripping off the amazingly original concept found in the Planet of the Ape movies.
| | Starfox64 | Graphics: 9 For some reason I really dig the polygons they call graphics in this game. The bosses nearly jump out of the screen and I can almost feel the heat of the many explosions in the game. You know the graphics are good when they start messing with your psychology. Anyway, basically what Im trying to say is the graphics more than suffice in this game. |
Playability: 9
It only took me a few runs through to master all the moves. I really like the feel of the game. The first time I watched someone play the game I thought it was dumb that the ship moves along with your target, but after playing the game I realized that it works quite well. The only tiny complaint I have is at some times I have difficulty pulling off the somersault move. However, a little practice made me overcome that frustration. |
Fun Factor: 7.5 This game is fun, there is no doubt about it. I beat the game my 3rd time playing it, but it has replay value for a few reasons. First, you can take numerous different paths depending on what you do in certain levels. There are approximately 15 different levels and depending on your path, you will go through a certain 7 of those. Secondly, you can try to obtain medals on levels for your score and then go for high scores since the battery in the game saves your top ten scores. Thirdly, there are several different multi-player modes, which are fun to play with 2-4 people and more can be unlocked through the one player game. There are a few ways I think the game could be improved, however. There is no save feature so if youre planning on playing the 1 player mode you need to allocate an hour or so to play through the game. Also, the 1 player mode couldve been made a little longer (with a save feature, naturally). Finally, I wouldve liked to see a cooperative mission mode. These inadequacies dont denounce the fact I still think its a great game, though. |
